I used to live in chicago, So i have a little bit chicago accent in me..But then i moved down to North carolina and well i developed words such as yall, as well as the hip words (at the time) such as "thats gay" or Dank which i use to this day.

call it a habit if you will.

I understand that there is no malicious intent behind the word most of the time (again, I wasn't calling you out). but, there are words that aren't also derogatory to a group of people that can suffice. I don't really "worry about it" it just bothers me when I hear it.

it's the same thing with racial slurs ... the n-word used to be acceptable for white people to say. I'm not saying "gay" is as bad as the n-word AT ALL but I am saying that its offensive and I have no idea why it's so commonly accepted as slang.

Gay used to be used as a term of joy but over the years got turned into a homosexual term. Now it is just used as a derrogatory slang term.

Yes and I have often wondered the same thing.
Why do gay people call themselves gay and then get offended.
It is true? With all the movements going on in the world it is difficult to know how to treat or relate to some people.

My hubby says he doesn't have a problem with gay people as long as they are not in his face about it.

He wonders why men or women would flaunt the very fact that they are gay, dress up to make sure they get noticed and then kick up hell if anyone gets pissed off.

I do see his point though. I don't have a problem with homosexuality at all as long as the people male or female are respectful and considerate it makes absolutely no difference to me. If fact I often find I like many of these individuals for the mere fact that the are courageous to be themselves. As long as people aren't waving it in my face, i am ok wif it.
