pH Pro Tip

Always, always pH your water. Doing so will prevent the mass majority of cannabis growing issues.

It is widely known that in soil, a pH of about 6.2-6.8 works best (I personally do 6.4-6.5), and in hydroponics, (correct me if I'm wrong), 5.5-6.2.

If you need to pH down, use pure citrus (lemon or lime) juice (vinegar also works well, particularly cider vinegar), and for pH up, baking soda works wonders.

Besides that you're wrong. No need to ph water in organic soil grows, on the contrary, trying to control ph on soil is what causes many problems in the first place.

this is a touchy subject. me personally, i dont touch my water. it goes from the faucet to the pots, thats it nada done....however, some may have issues with this type of thing, especially with hydro, but in soil...ive yet to have a problem, either way, goodluck

Leo stone mentioned this in that nerd show. They don't ph and there soil is resused for years. The water ph is always 8.5 - 8.9.

and the soil always tests 6.5

imo ph is hydro related not sure about coco though the rain doesn't ph itself!!

it really doesnt matter organic or synthetic, hydro or soil. if your ph is off....you will run into major deficiency issues

the only products that i know off that ph themselves is super natural and gh maxi serie

uncontaminated rain water always has a ph of 7 so it is within range for soil....

Try something from Ed Rosenthal or Jorge Cervantese or for Organics and whole story on soil pH try THIS -

Now then,,,,SOIL SELF BALANCES pH!!!! In organic and QUALITY synthetic grows!!!! (because quality synthetics are pH neutral) HYDRO requires DAILY pH monitoring/adjusting to 5.8-6.2 , , , , , A plant in hydro will tolerate down to 5.5 and up to 6.5 for SHORT periods of time (like 24-32 hrs) before some nutrient problems begin to rise and that would be in an increasing rate in relationship to the time at +or- pH factors!

I am a horticulturist and I learned this FACT in college and I have an MA and am working on my Doctorate....

I'm pretty sure all of those mentioned people had referenced pH's importance to monitor, and jorge has used many pH pens and demonstrated on grow dvds with minor cutscenes of a pH meter as hes explaining ect. I don't think anyone would beable to cover all possible contaminants or search for a horticulturist to learn to grow a plant. You could grow quality mj without even high school horticulture education, let alone a degree in the field, lol.

calmag is the first that comes to my mind, when using r/o water, the pH of the water source plummets more so then any ionic synthetic nutrients I've added; in canadian peat moss for all my plants and the very first ones I tried growing died from tap water non pH'd, was 8.0, never checked ppm, just switched to R/O water and only add tap to raise pH. Since I don't give the same dosage of nutes all through the grow, not having a cheap pH meter would have been quite problematic as a first time grower. Calmag lowers pH the more you add to the purified water from what I'm seeing, feel free to correct me if you are in belief that this is not the case.

I think I still have thread from months back when they died, I had suspected dampening off but in retrospect the 8.0 pH water was what was causing my seedling problems, lost berry ryder and purple thai to it before just trying bag seed and switching to vinegar pH'd tap water, then eventually to Mostly purified R/O with bit of tap 8.0 to counter the calmag depending on what plants im feeding and how mature they are. I'm still on first flowering stage too, but I don't think not pHing is good idea. The peatmoss and perlite drains pretty effectively, only minor dolomite lime. I was watering with 8.0 and the soil pH was quite near there, it comes neutral 7.0; only gets more alkaline as it dries.

Don't know how practical organic will be for me, but I would like to try it eventually.
