heh, actually I am a Sr Network Infrastructure Architect.. building datacentres and such, we used halon in a lot of server rooms over the years , cool stuff
I'm a Sr Network/Internet Engineer (and Operator), ran a transit/access Internet Provider for 10 years. Nice to see other similar people here :)

Where I'm working now is more of an oversight/management role, and I've got a site in Toronto with a Halon system we need to get rid of. We're in a multi-tenant building, and if that halon system ever fired, the entire building would have to be evacuated.

I'm looking at about $1.5 million to get rid of it at that location and replace it. We've got a massive data centre and NOC right in the literal core of the building.

Happy growing!

I work in a similar space, in over 100 data centers, we do not typically manage the real estate though.

well i am finishing up my upgrade now. went from a closet with an emergency blanket and some CFL's. Now i got a 3'x3'x6.8' tent, 6" 400 cfm inline and carbon filter, cool tube and a Variac controller for the inline fan. forgot to get the ducting tho <---{x.x}--::::

Going to pick up a fan speed controller tomorrow, maybe tonight.
if its for a inline fan make sure it is a "Variac" controller, as most every other one is not made for inline types and gonna shorten its life.... even if reviews say it doesn't cuase a humming.

Now I'm subbed, just to find out! I grew up just outside of TO, but spent a lot of time in the old cabbagetown area when I was young and stupid.

PM me, and we can discuss a bit further, and without providing implicating information, we can hone in on whether we actually know each other or not... and if not, we can figure out if it's worth a meet up ;)

ps. I was po too growing up, but built a lot of cred in Regent Park and Jane/Finch area as a whiteboy. I've changed one fuck of a lot since then, as I'm sure you can tell by the quality of my posts, but I always have appreciation of where I came from. I even walk through periodically when I get a chance when I fly back home on business.

Judging from spek, Arts snd hbbum Mark Zuckerbergs probably the biggest grower since Shanti Baba
If I had the ability to secretly turn one of my at least 48 global data centres into a grow op, I'd be immediately asking sunni for the best of the best contacts to get it going for me ;)

3x3 secret jardin tent for proper ventilation a blockbuster 6 reflector for proper light spread a fire extinguisher for fire protection a good ph meter and a digital cooling controller for my ac. Maybe even some high tech shit... But the list I got is what I'm getting next.
