So first timer here. While my plants are still babies, i wanna figure out what training method i will use. So im thinking about topping the plants with the FIM method, and using scrog as well.
While this is my first real grow, i have grown some unknown plants (probably swag, from high school), and on those plants, i topped them with no problem, but that was years ago (5-10+yrs). Right now i have about 6 plants growing in a 4'x4'x7' tent under a 600w Metal Halide. At first i thought about just doing a LST method, without topping but im ready that you get way more bud for your effort by topping them, is this true? Is there any chance of killing the plants though?
I already have all the tools and materials to build the netting for a scrog. Quick question though... Will netting work, or should use a more rigid material for the screen? Like i have some trellis netting, it has 4-5" squares. Heres a link to the exact material i have.

I figure i would build a wooden frame (3.5'x3.5' Leaving some space in between the table that my pots are on the tent) then staple the netting to it, and build adjustable legs so i can raise/ lower it as needed.
Sounds reasonable?
**EDIT** Also when should i start topping? After 3rd or 4th node?
Thanks in advance, replies ALWAYS appreciated!
Peace
