Don't reply look at threads. I have read a shit ton and still don't get it.....so I have a plant that just showed female yesterday....is there any way to clone it so that I can harvest a month or two after this one is done.....aka can I cut a stem/node off and just Re plant it in soil and keep it on 12/12 or is it able to go to 24/0 and re veg it? If anyone can tell me what to do to get another plant out of this thing if its even possible once it shows sex I would appreciate it!!! Thanks RIU

cut a few dif clones, just find an end clip about 4-6 inches down, put it in a cup of water, in your 24hr room and reveg the clones, in a week or two you should see root (now is best to put into soil). It's not all that hard, just know that clones die very easy, and quickly. Some will probably not make it, so make sure you have a few. good luck.

You want to root your cuttings
after your cuttings root you can do what ever you want with them.
Your clones have the same maturity as the Mother plant. You can put your clones into to flower or veg them out. It's up to you.

I use.

And

You can use Solo cups with perlite. Grow plug nested in the perlite drain holes bottom of the cup
or you can get a cloning tray and dome

The important thing is HEAT for your cuttings to root quickly.

Cuttings don't need direct light. They'll be happy in the shadows of your veg room until they root.

So are you basically saying I don't really need to buy anything? Am I cutting a node off a main stem that is fully developed or just getting going? To me it seems as if I can cut a node ....put it in a cup of water until I see some roots then put it on soil?? What if I don't have a 24 hour room I just have 12/12 now that they are flowering. Will just a cfl or two work until it gets rooting? Also last ? Does it need light while in water like 24/0?

Takes me a good 2 weeks using jiffy peat pellets(I think they are a bit too dense for cuttings), are those rapid rooter plugs any faster?.

You'll need a humidity dome at the very least, cuttings can only absorb water through their leaves until roots are established. And yes, a CFL is fine...I keep mine on 24/7 for cuttings.

Fluorescent light will be sufficient.
I use a 95 watt 4 bulb T5 fixture that is 24" long x 1" wide abd $90 over my dome its a perfect fits.
I keep it in an empty cabinet it take up very little space.
light can be kept on 24/7.
You can create almost as much wattage with a simple power strip some bulbs and bulb sockets with plug for elec outlet.
( in the electric isles of Home Depot. Or lowes)

you need an environment for you clones, a clear tote works great if you don't buy the hood and tray in above post.
Keep them cozy warm as stated above,
put a heating pad below your tote.
Do Not Cook your plants, 85 degrees tops!

humidity should be in the 65-80 range inside your tote/dome.

Rapid Start is a very good product.

watch the YouTube above, maybe look at YouTube a little more on the subject.

I use Olivia's or
Rapid Start, both liquids you mix w water and water
you clones with only a root hormone stimulator like Rapid Start.

I am sure I forgot something, I always do.
others and YouTube will fill in the holes!

Bless,
DZ

6-10 days with the Rapid Rooter Grow Plugs.

Rapid Rooter Grow Plugs are a sponge like material, all natural soilless organic grow plugs made of composted tree bark and organic materials. These biodynamic plugs are perfect for seedlings or cuttings. Transplant plugs in soil or soilless hydrogardening applications. Grow Plugs are manufactured with a proprietary composting method and contains natural beneficial fungi from this advanced composting biotechnology. Seedlings and cuttings grown in Grow Plugs will be able to transplant days ahead of plants started in Jiffy 7, Rockwool, Oasis, or Pro Mix. Grow Plugs are biodegradable and 100% organic.

Your cutting still uses transpiration through the xylem. You make your final cut under water to avoid an embolism, for this reason.
Very true a dome is very beneficial to rooting.

If your going to use water to clone your probably looking at 3-4 weeks to root. Maybe longer. Also depends on how friendly the strain your growing is to root.
They don't need the light. To much light will make cuttings stretch. Remember they don't have any roots. The light that's in your living room would be enough light until they root.

Technically, you don't really "need" anything other than a knife or razor, small cups (dollar store) and water. No dome, just put them under CFL (s) , and mist the leaves as often as possible. Many will die, but when you roll ghetto like I do, just the name of the game. you can get a box with the top missing and surran wrap that shit over, so light gets through and moisture stays in. and mist as often as possible again, but you will get takers without doing much more than just putting in a cup of aqua and crossing your fingers lol.

Cut I would say about 4 or more inches down from what will be the top of your clone (basically just a shoot) it will probably have two to 5 leaves hanging off, trim about 50% of the leaf mass off the ends. DO NOT be cutting this shit off severing the main stem, or your basically topping the plant, and cant see a reason why you would do that while its in flower, lol. trim any foliage that will be under the water line in the cup.

IF you follow that, you should have at least a few that live, but its going to take them about 2 months to make much progress... Once they root, put them in your medium, they will go through a weird ass retarded looking stage re-vegging. mutant leaves, once your foliage is growing normally again, and does not look like an abortion, then its safe whenever you are ready, to put the plant back to flowering stage. BUT if i where you i would grow these clones out a bit in veg, take cuttings from them to clone WHILE STILL IN veg (much faster), then once you notice you have adequate amount of healthy clones from those that look like they will survive, throw your original clones (the now much larger plants) into flower, and presto, you have mastered perpetual growing, with no need for seed. :)

Also, some strains are easier to clone than others. Just keep tending them as long as it takes. Mine were taking so long that I took another set . . . and still nothing for weeks. Then, one day, ROOTS!

At this growing gig darn near 40 years now.. ha..

Unless you are commercial (need to speed things up by a few days tops)..

Just cut the fucker ANY time before the last 3 weeks (or so) of life, and put it in some water and change that water every few days, set it aside and put it in ambient light by day (kitchen counter out of direct sunlight) and CFL (or kitchen hood fan light... this isn't rocket science, you just need a place with a fixture) by night. Drop it in soil after two weeks (even if no roots show yet) and keep soil WET (not just moist) for another week.. then BAM, watch out, it will take off like a flying @#^*~!!.. Just don't try and rush it, keep it away from actual grow lights and direct sunlight for a few weeks and it will do the rest with nearly 100% success.. can't remember the last time I lost one.. this is VERY simple and always successful if you don't try and rush it.. if you do things right even not rushing it, your clones will be WAY READY for your flower room before you are done flowering the last batch (depending on if you do single harvests or perpetual)..

Just thoughts.. Good luck... it's only a cutting from a plant, ask Grandma how to take cuttings from a plant.. this is EXACTLY the same. There is no magic (except in how you feel about your efforts) to this.. the plant WANTS to survive and will do damn near anything it can to insure that cutting will take off, just don't fuck with it and let it do it's thing.

And that is the end of cloning 101.. *steps off soap box*.

Peace~!
