Ok... So I am starting my first Professional Light Set Up and Grow....but I'm could use some pointers

- 400w HPS Light
- 400w MH Light
- 400w Dimmable HPS / MH Ballest
- Batwing Reflector
- Miracle Grow Potting Soil Time Realese
- 6" Pots..... for starting

I started 10 bag seeds in 10 6" pots

- I plan on buying 5 Blue Mystic Femenized Auto Flowrrer seeds

But I could use some help n pointers ... Please give all advice and follow ... ill lost pics soon ...

Miracle grow time release and bag seed are not a good way to go. Miracle grow is bad for the main reason of having slow release nutes, if you have nute problems and need to flush you are basically fucked. Get some decent soil, or at least get soil with NO nutes, top soil with a good ratio of perlite if you want to make your own mix. Then you can feed using proper nutrients at any specified dose your plants require. You have total control that way.

Bag seed is frowned upon a lot as you don't know how good or how stable the genetics are, however I have done bag seed in the past and I have to say I was one of the lucky ones. Hopefully you will be too, but you will be better off with the bought seeds though :)

.. white water bucket to help with heat
- box fan blowing air out ...
- 6'' pots bag seed unkown strain ...
- miracle grow potting soiil ...time relese nutes ..
- 400w MH with batwing reflector ...

well I too am a new grower
4-400w mh lights (1veg-3in flower room)
pro mix
3.2.4. pro grow nutrients in veg
fox farm tigerbloom and crystal burst in flower
room 8x12 split in half...half veg n half flower. problem is that buds r only a inch at most tall in week 5 1/2. no light leaks. I know I need hps.lights. couldnt afford. but I surely should have a good top.cola atleast. feeling frustrated. idk what to do . let me know how ur grow is. oh running headband,lemon skunk,amnesia haze and super.lemon haze. 4 gallon pots

Yes they are stunted. I put them too far away ar from the floresent ttubes for the first couple days of there lives . ... so now they are all stretch arm strongs. ... but most look healthy ...

I have not feed them any nutrients. .. only water when they absolutly need it ...I let the soil dry out nice n good to make sure ibdont over fertalize .

I have been keeping them under the MH 400w light at abou y 12 " now from plants on 18/6 light

Babys are doing great.. 14 days old .. ising 6" pots and miracle grow soil... no ectra nutrients20130825_103344.jpg.....o just switched them to hps and flower today 20130825_103344.jpg

Take that box fan and turn it so the wind is indirect instead of directly on the plants, and becarefull of that miracle grow, it can get hard to tell if you are adding to much or to little nutes with time release soil. Depending where you live Fox Farms soil is only couple bucks more then Miracal Grow for high quality soil.

Thank you that helps alot :) . I belive I can just get fox farm online if I have to . They are in 6" pots. I just started 12/12 after there 15th day or so of life ... shouldent I transplant them into like 3 gallon pots with more miracle grow soil ? I have no availability to better soil .

Yes I have transplanted before .. all around this time in grows .. I try to keep my plants small . But thank you I am hapoy to know they will be able to finnish in 3 gallon pots

The only thing I see wrong with the fan is it's not reaching all the plants. You can leave it but open it up a bit so you have nothing blocking it. that can create Hot spots. and burn your leaves making you think you have a nute problem.

That's what it can do.


I have 2 fans in my tent right now. one blowing on the entire canopy reaching every single plant. and one blowing directly on the bulb to keep the heat down.

You are fine with the MG soil. just don't add nutes to your plants at all until they start to show you signs of N deficiency. this way you can fix the problem instead of creating one that is much worse.

What are the plans for nutrients? Anything in mind?


I'd suggest General Organics(only because it does not require pH adjustments. and it great for people just getting into learning how to grow.)
they sell the GO BOX(entire General Organics nutrient line) at most grow shops for like $35-$40 and it's enough for all 10 of those plus the 5 auto's you want to buy.

I'd hold off on starting the auto's though otherwise you'll be waiting for them to finish and your bag seed plants will get too tall for your space without proper training.

Kool thanks for the help ... my hole life I never did ph on any soil .. plants.. water .. or anything I would always mess it up n kill the plant .. I would be happy to just get a couple oz off all these plants ...I use nutrients feom walmart .. and how can I tell when they have used up all the miracle grow soil nutrition and I see nitrogen defincys ..??

OP: get a magnetic ballast. Digital ones can get you busted. Also Miricle Grow is not an ideal fertiliser. It can work yeah but it's not great. Just like bagseed, its probably going to be lowgrade and unknown photoperiod.

Everyone has there own way of growing that suits them best .. I live on a farm ..far from civilization. .....so this suits me ....


I suck at growing ...
I would be happy to get a oz from this entire grow ...so maby ppl can understand now ... its more of a hobby ...somtin for shits n giggles ...

If I had availability to better equipment .. belove me I would buy it instead ... but I dont ...
