The Main-Lining Thread

Burying the stem will actually help and improve the root mass, try and veg for a while after doing it though, maybe consider potting up now, the more time you can give her to shoot roots the better!
Great response. Thanks for taking the time.

I was thinking the same thing....already have the 5 gallon bucket with hempy mix in it. :0)

I only hesitate as there is zero chance of the plants currently in the mother/seedling/clone closet
all fitting if I start to up-pot them now.

BUT...one might fit.

:0)

I will see.

Onward and upward,

This is my first real hempy, but I will not repost there. I use Mo's original ratio. I hope that he is well.

it works out nicelyif you have veg space. 60 day flower 60 day veg rotate... I pull 3-5 oz every 2 months and I only need 1 per month to stay medicated...works out so I can shut down and go on vacation once a year so when I get home I have enough jars in the pantry to last until the next first harvest.
so mine should be done for xmas haha

Yes I have a 3x3 veg cupboard but its transporting them after 60 days veg to another location... I will have to see after my first run see the size before I flip and that, like I say this is a first try at it and still gave 22 fem seeds to try after wards follow my thread and see how they turn out

Hey guys this is my first attempt at mainlining, and I have a doubt, I hope someone can help me. What should I do with the new buds shown on the picture below? Cut them and leave the fan leaves, cut them along with the fan leaves, or let them be? I pruned for four last Saturday. I'll leave the pic below, see you guys.

Well I decided to give the mainline a try. Comedy of errors, not really errors but mishaps.

1st, started seeds, 5 Querkle (two of the 5 made it), 2 Grand Daddy Purple (neither made it).
I believe I started the process to early, but all was fine until my homemade 12 light CFL veg fixture broke loose on one side and gravity took it course. I hit Q1 hard broke off the two main shoots, but all was not lost, was about to throw it away when I noticed a small green shoot coming off of node number 1. It had been buried upon transplanting but was just exposed. So I have been growing it out in hope of salvaging something from it.
8-19-13 Q1 1.JPG 8/19/13 Q1
8-22-13 Q1 - 3 - 1.jpg 8/22/13 Q1

On the 22nd when I was check on Q1 I noticed that Q2 had one side of the two shoots wilting hard, upon checking I saw that it too was damaged by the light, I tried to tape it but did not work, found it too late. So I removed the one half. Was now down to one half manifold.

8-19-13 Q2 top 2.JPG 8/19/13 Q2

8-22-13 Q2 - 2 - 2.jpg 8/22/13 Q2 Right side was limp and could not be repaired. It was removed right after I took this pic.

Well that was 8 days ago. Here we are as of 8/29/13.

Q1 8-29-13 - 1.jpg Q1 Quite a recovery, hope I can do something with it.

Q2 8-29-13 - 2.jpg Q2 This is only one half of the original plant.

Will post more later.

Peace Out,

GR

It takes a few tries. I realized that I could let the plant grow out more and then just remove lower branches later to create a nice Nugbuckets looking stem.

Hey everyone.. This is a wonderful thread and technique.I have been reading up on this technique as much as I can. I understand the concept. I notice that I don't see many or any folks using this in a hydro setup. Probably missed some because there a lot of posts.I know cages are supposed to be used but do you think this technique will work harmoniously with a drip /scrog type of setup without cages? I have space/ height issues. I am going to try and work this in a BCNL Producer. If anyone has some ideas or experience please let me know.

I don't think it matters how the roots are grown. This only addresses the canopy and stem structure. It should work in any medium.

Here is the Mulanje Bubblegum x Mozambique Poison cross mainlined:

I kept everything in 1 gallon pots too long and they are all pretty small.

hello everyone i'm planning to do my first grow ever in a 2x2 tent.. i will be using a 250w agro bulb ... what do you guys think: 2 plants (i can have 2 different strains) main lined for 8 colas in organic soil or one big 16 colas plant in a waterfarm? what would be better for my first grow

I run a 2.5x2.5 with a 400w and 1 plant fills the room

Hey all, When growing from seed, is there a preferred time you wait to prune the top? I seem to think it would be beneficial for the stem to thickin and roots to grow as much as they can, before i chop the top. When mainlining from seed is their a specific node you top down to? Do you always mainline the first set of branches or could you chop them and build a mainline off middle branches and chop the lower growth? I very much would like to mainline my four girls, they aren't quite ready to top, i have 4 seedlings in hempy buckets, almost 4 weeks old, growth was very slow the first 3 weeks, but are starting to grow faster as i think the tap root just hit the res. they just finished developing the 4th node onto the 5th... Thanks a bunch for this thread it has been very helpful so far! :peace:
