How to control heat from 275-400W inside small tent?

The 22"x36"x63" GROW TENT features:

  • Super Sturdy Steel Frame With Locking Metal Corners
  • Measures 22" deep x 36" wide x 63" tall
  • Heavy-Duty Light-Proof Black Ballastic Nylon "Skin"
  • Shiny Silver Ultra-Reflective "MYLAR" Lined Interior for superior light reflectivity and dispersal
  • Four 6" Vent Ports with Covers attached with Velcro
  • Two 4" Vent Ports with Covers attached with Velcro
  • Three integrated Vent Flaps for proper ventilation
  • Removable Water-Proof Double floor contains spills/water within tent
  • Easy to understand set-up instructions (we also have video instructions on the web, see below!)
  • Now With EZ View Window
If you have questions ask, but that is my tent, setup as now below. Hoping to get rid of the A/c but then the heat becomes a issue.

6" Inline Fan + Carbon Filter Combo set to exhaust out of air cooled hood of a 400W, the other side of the air cooled hood is left open to vent the smell into the filter while exhausting the light.
1 240ish cfm exhaust at the top (Only used at night when inline is off, or when I cover the other side of the hood to only exhaust the light.
on the bottom the flap is open and a fan is pushing cold air in from a A/c which has a vent going from the a/c to the fan to let in cold air from the bottom.
Temps almost reach 90* without A/c 75* with a/c

I have a speed controller I use for the inline low med high settings with values inbetween I cant seem to get the temp and humidity stable without the a/c which sucks because its super loud

I also have the 400W set to 75% power because at 100% I feel like its drying my top colas

only have 1 plant in there about 4ft 3 main colas little to no branching

I think you're using my same tent!? Lol...

I have a 400 in there without the reflector hanging vertically. Under it I have a wal greens 9" fan pointed directly to it. I have an extraction fan inside with a carbon filter attatched. That extraction fan is strong, it moves the leaves like a fan is blowimg on em. With it on and the other as well the temp stays from 79-84 (due to our heat wave were in). It stays a comfy 73-75 otherwise. Night temps stay between 66-68 without my extraction fan/carbon filter running.

Check my grow out through my sig link.

Thanks billy will do

isnt 79-84 too high? I suppose you have Co2? I thought 75 was the sweet spot anything over and my top colas dont feel as moist but that may be a height issue

I also had my lights vertical for almost the entire flowering but I moved from closet to the tent and I went the other way which was probably a stupid idea considering the plants are a little under a feet from the light I'll tinker I guess before my next op since this one is almost complete. O

You can't get rid of ac when you use hid. Maybe if its winter you can, but during summer and half of fall.. You need it..

Some say yes but they're thriving. Ive always had my grow rooms in the 80's and no issue. When arrived i quickly diagnosed it. No heat wilt etc. Currently its only 79. And they're close to the light especially my big girl (within 10"). No co2 either but ill be brewing another beer soon so there's that. The tent is in my closet. I leave my closet door open until lights out. My rooms about 70 degrees. The ac sucks in our room.

I would love your temps man haha. My 2'x4' tent with a 400 HPS runs 80-88f with lights on. I have no ac otherwise id be using that damn thing all the time.

My a/c is loud even on lowest settings (For Cold air and Dehumidifier mode) fan is quiet but doesnt help with heat makes it tons worse and humidity skyrockets to almost 80-90%

Oddly enough my closet was cooler than my tent and I only had it cracked open about 1-2 inches, temps ranged from 70-76 & humidity never went above 45% no matter time of day.

I'm thinking what if I exhaust directly out my window it would help transfer the heat instead of recycling it but smell is outrageous without my filter.

Edit: With your temps 80 and above do your top colas feel any dryer than usual? mine does compared to lower half of plant but the trichomes havent burned off or anything guess its just not as moist since its at the top

my max temp is 80. You should be able to sleep with a ac in the window.. I do.. Hell I even sleep with the tv on... The closet is cooler then your tent that's a good thing. But the closet isn't cool enough. Your venting in the same room? Try exhausting into the roof/wall/floor so the hot air isn't being back into the room.. It's going somewhere else.

i also forgot to mention.. You shouldn't be touching your buds because it breaks the heads off the trichomes and then you can't tell if its done or not...

I go a 20x loupe and a 60-100x scope lol. I don't even begin to check until 8 weeks most strains take at least 8 weeks
