temperature too high?

My bathroom (growing room) gets in the low 90 degrees. I live in the valley so thats pretty normal for me, is this type of heat going to destroy my girls? It can (and will some days) hit 100 degrees.... BTW I won't turn on my homes central AC so I could save money. (AC out of the question!)

P.S. The humidity is in between 45-65%, thanks to my humidifier!

Insulate the pots, keep a fan on them and I think you'll be alright. Cannabis grows wild in the same temperatures that you describe.

90 degrees is way to hot. That is a recipe for heat damage. Get more intake and outtake fans. Also, you want a dehumidifier. You want it around 30% to get crystally dank buds, but it doesn't need to be that way until half way through flowering. Also high humidity promotes bud rot and the dreaded gingivitises... well, maybe not gingivitises, but it is still bad.

Hmmm, I read up on the humidity thing... everyone says 40 to 60%, but I know for a fact pros like Al B. Fuct keep it damn low.... I will look into it further.

90 degrees is very hot, although if it only hits 90 like once every 25 days it wont matter. but 90 degrees everyday = deadly. have you thought about moving into basement, or maybe buying one of those window air conditioners, and just having that on room cool... just a thought.

I agree 90 degrees is hot, but my outdoor girls see 100+ for at least 2 months of the season. I think the root temperature is much more critical than the plant temp. If you can't get the temp down then do what you can to make their lives as comfortable as possible. Like Plasma offered use fans, move the air thru the grow room. Do the best you can with what you have.

Ahhhh, it all makes sense now. Your heat is high so you have to raise humidity proportionately. For example, a 800 cubic foot will hold 7oz at 50 degrees and will hold 56oz at 100 degrees(i hope you appreciate me doing this in imperial... i fucking hate imperial). Thus it will pull up water from your reservoir if you don't add humidity... interesting. Yours truly maxes out at 85 degrees, but I try to stay in the butter zone of 75. So, it is a lot less water in the air to keep growth happy....

Enough waxing poetic, 40-60% is good for vegging (makes for happy stomata) and lowering it to 30% for late budding. OH.... and, yes temperature is definitely too high (and maybe so am I).

Let me guess... you're growing sativas. Those bastards can take a heat beating... big leafy indicas, not so much.

I grow a few sativas indoors, I love the smoke. Really fickle indoors though, some times I can get close to a pound wet others half that. No rhyme or reason to it either. I think I am going all indica on my next big full grow (to max results and to keep the moochers happy)... I'm actually kinda bummed about it.

With sativa a pound wet could be closer to 3 oz's dry, funny critter it is but I agree the smoke is very hard to ignore. I think my next grow may be something special in the indica strain as well. Off to the seed boutiques I go. lmao

is an AC unit possible? and as far as humidity goes i am pretty sure it is optimum to have it higher during veg especially seedlings, and much lower during flowering. All in all your probably def gonna have to find away to drop the temp when the lights go off during flowering. cannabis likes that drop at night during flowering.

Well the only true free weed is outdoors under the sun. If your growing indoors it's going to cost you, but you should be able to grow better than you can buy. Good luck and keep us posted.

One thing you might try is closing every AC vent in the house except for the room you're growing in (I'm assuming central AC) and maybe one near the thermostat (to try and avoid needing to manually cycle the AC). They also make magnetic covers you can stick over a vent to help seal it off. I've seen them at the hardware store.

Just an idea.

try doing this.

1. Close all the vents in the house exept for the one in your grow room.
2. Buy a cheap thermostat at home depot.
3. Disconect your existing thermostat, and remove so you can see the wires coming out of the wall.
4. run wires to grow room and connect to new thermostat in grow room.

you might be able to relocate existing thermostat depending on how it is installed.

if you buy a digital thermostat it is better for a few reasons.

1.you can set a cooling schedule with most of them.
2. alot of them have no mercury switches, so that means you dont have to have a perfectly level installation.

hope this helps you save money.

it is too hot. expect lots of hermies and brittle bud.
Your choice about the AC but you have been warned.

if you want to see the gory details - you can look at the Big Bud/PPP grow journal in sig - 3 plants lost to heat stress.

Depending on how much you spent on seeds - not turning on the AC could be penny-wise but dollar-foolish.
something to consider.
