Jela, I've heard good things about the Blueberry gum. I've never had it personally, but look forward to running it one day. The leaves look indy for sure. Look forward to watching them grow up.

Hey how do you guys feel about recycling perlite or vermiculite? I see mixed opinions on the net, The reason I ask is simple, I would like to take my 2 best plants and flower them in my 2 gal buckets, i have 4 in 2 gal buckets, gonna take 2 down, they are only 4 weeks old, can i keep that perlite/verm mix for future hempy buckets?
2 plants in my space i think would suit me much better this run, i have 3x3x6, would like to grow two bigger plants, than struggle with 4, i also plan on mainlining them, so the canopy's will benefit much from the 600 watter. Plan on keeping my strongest critical kush, and my mazar x white rhino, just grow the two, see how they do in that space, and first time mainline.

I've seen mixed opinions on recycling perlite. Personally I do not recycle it, it is too much of a pain to make sure all the roots are out. It also is only around $20 for a HUGE bag at my local hydro store, so buying it is easy for me. I guess it depends on how hard or expensive it is for you to get it new. I also live on a large piece of land so disposing of it in the woods is pretty easy. I figure it can't be too bad for the environment seeing plants grow in it!

Yeah I hear ya, it aint that expensive at all, i just have these 2 full 2 gallon buckets, perfectly mixed, all i have to really do is pull the 3x3 rockwool from the bucket mix, should of never started in them, i hate rockwool lol, i just feel it could be reused simply because the roots havent really had a chance to develop, and i only used nutes 2 or 3 times, i have only been using the mix for the past 3 weeks ya know, but if its safer to chuck it, ill just dump it lol

LOL, nothing wrong with rockwool per say. What you should have really done in hindsight was start them in Solo cup hempy's. The 3" x 3" rockwell cubes are just as good as Jiffy peat pellets when it comes to starter plants. Your mistake was putting them into the 2.5 gallon bucket right away, instead of into Solo cup hempy's. No offense FJG, just trying to help!!

I recycle mine by soaking the last medium used in Cannazym. It breaks all the roots/bits down, and I just top up my bin when needed. Only reason I choose to recycle is because I hate throwing stuff out that can be reused. Our planet is turning into a garbage heap and if I can minimize my foot print, I take advantage where I can. Yea, I dont recycle it either (well kinda), I Spread it around the Backyard and let it do my outside soil some good. For me its just a pain to rinse it enough to reuse, when its soo cheap to buy

I toss mine and buy fresh as my grows are small.
I typically soil cap which makes it a bit more work but if I had a large operation, a recycle program may be economically beneficial and less issues than deposing of the old medium.
I depose of soil, perlite/vermiculite, leaves, stock and roots or entire male plants in an environmentally friendly place such as thick brushes with little visibility...it just blends into the ground in time
someone said it's impossible to grow outdoors in Canada during the winter.....so I transplanted 2 males outdoors on the edge of the ocean...they disappeared after 10 days but were doing well.

More than likely. For the cost to me it is not worth the risk. But as I said, if perlite is expensive or hard to get where you're from than it may be worth the effort.

Tasted a friends coco grow (non-hempy, simple potted drain to waste) and was very impressed with the smell and flavor. He says he uses molasses as an addition during flower. In reading up it appears that molasses is best for soil grows, but bad for hydro applications. Does anyone here on WOH have concrete proof it works in the hempy bucket (coco or perlite)?

Hey Lamopa, thanks a lot for the response man. Roger on the wattage, I know I need more lights, but when I see the jump in my electric bill during my grows, I get paranoid that "they" will notice and bust me, lol. Silly maybe, but I adher to a philosophy of maintaining a healthy level of paranoia at all times ;?D
Hey Jela, I can testify to using it in Hempys in my last 3 grows over the past 18 months, 2 in straight perlite and with this grow of mixed coir/perlite. An experienced grower suggested it to me as a source of carbs, but he recommended it more to feed the beneficial microbes than as a nutrient. But others have told me that it serves the same purpose as Carboload at a much cheaper cost, and too molasses is chock full of minerals like calcium, manganese, copper, potassium and more, so I like it. I use Subculture B and M, and then feed the bennies with molasses every other feeding. ;?D

Thanks for the info fearnoevil, I do inoculate my buckets with a pinch of beneficial microbes (AN Piranha Powder) during setup/transplant. So the molasses would do well to feed the colony. Its primarily the carbs I'm interested in however and the production of flowers. What I'm trying to troubleshoot is the smell/flavor I get after 4-6months of cure. Seems like every strain I grow takes on this light shoe-polish smell along with whatever terpenes are natural to that strain. I'm starting to think the Canna Boost I use as a flowering booster is the culprit. I'm sure some people would call the smell "dank" but that smell isn't there in a friends grow that doesn't use "boost".
