Nightmares

This is a thread to post about nightmares that you have recently, not in the past. For some reason i have been having at least one or two bad nightmares a week, for the past 6 months. Here is the most recent, just this morning.

From the time i remember the dream i came to standing in what seemed to be some sort of hospital, white walls and white tile, with two friends, though it was such an eerie setting i can't recall who my friends were exactly. I think it may have been my little brother and my mother, but i cannot be absolutely certain. We all walked over to the counter, and as i turned my head to the left i saw something very disturbing. There were gurneys, with people on them covered in sheets twitching and moving around, blood all over their sheets and people above them torturing them. As we saw this we immediately turned around to find an elevator, it opened up, but only one door... like a closet door where one side can slide behind the other.

We got in and one of my friends pressed a button, we started to go down, down to the lowest floor, the door opened, but like i said it only opened half way. A feeling of dread came over me as the door slid open and i slowly peeked outside and saw a man in white pants, no shirt, and a mask... blood all over him with dead bodies all over the floor behind him. I quickly jumped back and pressed any button and thankfully the door closed. We started to go back up...

We stopped and the one door slid open, but it was only half way between the floor and the elevator... in order to get out we would have had to help each other up and squeeze through the opening so i said fuck that and pressed the button again. As the door closed again, a picture was on the door, of us, just then, our backs visible staring at the small opening. I tore it down and crumpled it up, threw it on the floor as we started to go up.

The door opened again and my friends walked out so i fallowed. It's hard to explain the setting, the hallways, and large rooms kept shifting... but that wasn't really the scary part. I caught up to my friends and they weren't moving, just staring. I peered over to what they were looking at, and as i did i froze, and i was not able to move. I was forced to watch someone be tortured for what seemed like minutes. This happened 3 more times, the last time i said no im not going to stare, i need to get out of here.

As i walked quickly to find my friends whom i had lost, i quickly glanced at the people i walked by, doing crazy things, with things i have never seen before, they all looked at me and smiled, an evil sadistic smile as i glanced away, countless people. I rounded a corner and i saw a cat on the floor, frozen, staring at something. I walked around the hallway and sitting about 2 feet away from the cat was a old man in a chair, his face turned away from me. I looked at the cat and it was staring at my two friends, they were yet again being forced to watch so i quickly looked away and when i did, the old mans arm snapped out and slapped my side.

I looked at the side of his face and thought to myself, the fuck do you think you are?? So i tried to back hand him in the face, as i did his head snapped around to face me, an evil smile, emanating with dread.

I woke up.

And as my eyes unclouded i looked over to my right, on my desk, i had been reading my kindle before i went to bed, a dragonlance novel. I forgot to shut it off and my screen savor was on. It looks like a bunch of typewriter keys all mixed up with the letters R E A D.

As i glanced over at it, the word D E A D, popped out at me.

Anyone else been having any recent nightmares they would like to share?

Hey Strife ,,its been a while.I havent been recalling my own dreams as of late,,mostly because I have been smoking some high grade homegrown and it generaly dissapates my recall,,,no lucid dreams either, thats the only thing I hate about it.Have you been doing any meditation? It can help reveal alot about what you may be dreading in your dreams.I find that once I clear the brainpan of clutter and negativity, clarity of a situation creeps in somewhat unexpectedly.I also find this may include some time away from certain pleasures to really let it get the right attention.Sometimes you can only to find answers you need the most when you temporarily detach from the things your use to and enjoy most.,,If it sounds looney,,I get it.Its just my 2 cents.

No nightmares yet. Had some pretty sweet dreams though which is nice. Anyone have a nightmare or sweet dream/lucid dream lately?

Hmm Strife, it'll be okay man! Do you think there is something bothering you? You been watching too much snuff films? xD What's going on in your life, I haven't talked to you in awhile directly.

Speaking of lucid dreams and nightmares, somehow whenever I end up having a nightmare, it is always me running away from something. Every. Time. But somehow I have managed to make it so that whenever I am running away from something, full speed, heart beating, frantic.. I immediately recognize that I am dreaming because my immediate instinct is to fly. My thought process connects lucid dreaming with flying, so boom, I know right then once I get into the air. Say in real life, if someone was chasing me trying to kill me, I would actually try to fly. No joke. And I think this is how because at that point it is my only chance. It's hard to tell if you're dreaming or not. I do it occasionally. I am nowhere near master level though :p very rarely do I go lucid randomly. I never try either. 9 times out of 10, it starts as a nightmare, me running. And then I think, FLY. I have this energy in my chest that I can control while I am flying to do various stunts, land correctly.. I HAVE mastered that through series' of lucid dreams.
Strange though because the more I succeed in this, the less I have those nightmares, thus the less I lucid dream.

This has been confusing me lately. Time to dig deeper.

What did you dream this time? I'd love to read your dreams.

I rarely dream or have nightmares, if I do I'll post em up in this thread

I've heard smoking weed kinda restricts dreams, not sure if there's any science behind that, but it seemed to work on me when I quit smoking for a few months a while back, after about a month I started having dreams again

Last nightmare I had was probably a decade ago, I don't even remember it

I'm the same way, Pad.

I barely remember my dreams at all. If it's a nightmare they're usually ingrained in my memory a bit more, but I'll be damned if I can recall my last dream....

Probably from high pot usage....

Yea I don't know when I last had a dream..... I wish they came more often
You have no idea what you're asking.

I have nightmares almost daily, zombies-demons-witches. I even sleepwalk sometimes which is why i use herb to stop all of it. :-( not fun....

the hopital is you..rooms, corridors, elevator are all different areas of your mind..most things in our dreams are symbolic of something and are rarely to be taken at "face value":

Hospital: Do not give up on your health. The dream indicates that you feel that you are weak and unable to do anything to maintain your body.

Cat - When we dream of cats in our dreams it represents our independent and mysterious nature. What ever problem going on right now in your walking life you are the only one who can figure it out. Women usually dream of cats when they or somebody else is way too catty. Sometimes cats in our dreams represents bad luck or somebody wishes you ill will. Did you notice the color of the cat? If the cat was black it means that you are not using your full psychic potential. Did the black cat cross your path? In our walking life we sometime refer to a “black cat” as evil and and bad luck. When we see a white cat in our dreams symbolizes tough time ahead. If a cat is attacking you means that you are being selfish. You might have the same qualities as the cat?

Elevator: An elevator is a very powerful symbol! Generally an elevator is symbolic of different stages in your subconscious. If you’ve seen the movie inception youd understand that specific memories are on each floor of the elevator, the lower the floor the more you regret the memory. The memories are generally of things or people you miss or of feelings which is not exposed in your waking life and buried in your subconscious.
On the other hand, an elevator could stand for the good and bad things in your life. It could have a sexual undertone or could just represent a situation in your life. When you dream of an elevator shooting up uncontrollably or dropping so fast that your hair is flying all over it means that you are worried about a certain situation and you have no control over it. No one is around its just you and your thoughts about the situation which you feel scared and powerless with. If you take the elevator to a higher floor, it represents your transforming for the better. It could be a promotion at work or just simply doing better for yourself but you are moving upwards.
Dreaming that the elevator has come to a halt, stopped working or stuck between two floors symbolizes that you feel caught in a situation and you are not going anywhere in some aspect of your life. You could be caught in responsibilities, a relationship or a career that you do not want. Similarly if the elevator is moving sideways instead of down or up it means that you are not progressing or moving up or down in aspects of your life no matter how hard you try.

I awoke in my dream, laying in the dark in a bed with my girlfriend, Megan. The bed was next to the windowsill where i happened to come across an acorn. Without thinking i almost just tossed it aside to go back to sleep when i felt something move inside it, like some kind of treasure. I tried to twist or crack it open with my hands but it didn't work, as i looked over, there was a hammer laying next to the window, i picked it up, rested the acorn on the windowsill and raised the hammer when Megan, half asleep, said "what are you doing with that hammer??" So i slowly put it down next to me in bed, when i did, my pillow fell off the top side of the bed onto the floor.

I reached down to grab it, and a hand snaked out of the darkness and grabbed my hand, hard, it was strong and it hurt, i thought it was Megan at first but it wouldn't let go and she wouldn't wake up. I then took one of my fingers that wasn't all the way in it's grasp and roughly scraped it across the top of it's hand, as i did...

...i woke up just as my finger was roughly scratching across my stomach, with that eerie uncomfortable feeling you get when you realize you have just woken up into another nightmare.

Winnie the Pooh helped me get back to sleep after a few hours.

(If you clicked on the thread and went straight to page 2, i have another nightmare to be read at the end of page 1)

Dream interpretations are never 100% accurate, as everyone dreams about different things for different reasons. I understand that there are some similarities between different representations of things happening in dreams, compared to another. But this doesn't mean that it is always the case, all the time.

To interpret your own dream is a guess, to try to do it for another is shooting a floating penny in the dark.

But regardless, thank you Sunni, very interesting.

So youve been having a recent bout of nightmares for the past 6 months and this last week has been free of nightmares, thats good! Not to sound like a therapist, but have you noticed any associations with your daily mood or thought observation with the nightmares occuring and when they are not occuring?I notice my own dreams become much better in content when I practice letting go of certain anxieties that are habitual and unecessary(more or less anxiety's stemming from my own mental disorders growing up),meditation is a great help towards this end for me.Sometimes I dont pay Attention to the more subtle anxiety that creeps up occasionaly and it causes alot of storms with dark and otherly imagery in my own dreams.I have to remind myself to bring attention back to the resolution of those turmoils.I find that the attention given to thoughts and emotions during the day are super important in the dream content in the next sleep cycle,.I do this in the context of a constructive detatchment,if that makes any sense. Its something akin to diffusing a bomb before it explodes.Observing what makes me feel a certain amount of discomfort and what precludes me from confronting emotional barriers which harbor negative emotions yet resolved are what I focus on when doing this mental excersize,I have had numerous experiences confronting shadows and wild poltergeist like beings in dreams and I seem to find that they simply cant hurt me anymore, I have taken away all of their mystique through confrontation and reduced them to nothing more than inert effigys of past fear.Everyone has different triggers,I hope that in some way this method can help shed a bit of light towards finding your own.

I'll lay one on you. I'm a Vietnam vet, I've had nightmares about the war ever since I got home. One reoccurring dream I used to have was that in the midst of a fierce firefight in the jungle I get bayonetted in the neck, by a VC. I would have that dream once a month or so for abut 15 years, until I was assaulted one day while breaking up a fight, and got stabbed in the neck & both hands and almost died. I actually got stabbed in the same spot on the neck, as in my nightmares......... and I have not had that dream again since..........go figure.....

It is the Lord calling you.
That's weird, i would have figured if this so called "Lord" guy wanted to contact me... it would fuckin tell me so instead of terrorize me whist in my sleep.

Still no nightmares since last time i said. Pretty stoked about that, haven't really changed anything, actually been playing a lot of resident evil, thought that might make them come back but still head strong.

The new legend of zelda 3ds games just came out tonight at midnight, having a fucking BLAST!

Next nightmare i have ill post it guys, keep em' comin.

I get nightmares quite often which I claim to be stress induced. Things have been going great lately and I havent had anything negative go on at night.

I do lucid dream almost every night though. More so if I dont blaze right before I fall asleep.

I quit smoking for a few months at the beginning of the year and that was the peak my my nightmare madness.

Usually its some underlying thing in your mind. Youll be good man!
