ahhhhh...... this is not the time for me to make a new thread, SUPER agitated '51 released a 4500k panel and I wont have one... I even chat not too long ago, asking, "hey, you gonna throw out an all white panel, I think it will be stellar.." FUCK no... well guess what, I went ahead and moved on with my life and got an original SGS...............NOW WHAT!?>?!!



well.... here's now what...

I bought myself an Apogee Meter like Dawg/Tags (thanks for the direction) and went to town on my area...

Ill basically let the numbers do the talking, but seriously... I was really shocked seeing 990umol coming from my 195w panel.. and the insane amount of EVEN coverage from the SGS, not killer readings, but crazy consistent over the area. I bought the SGS to replace my 2 flowering panels... 390w down to 155w, but with the #'s I pulled off... the 390w is going to give me:

1.More coverage in the corners/further parts
2.Option to rotate the bay's of lights
3. Umol range for 12/12


As a whole, I still have to test my 10:2:3 panels, but I thinkt they're going to read pretty close to the 4250k panel... and if they do- they will STAY my flowering setup and the SGS will go to the Veg cab permanently, seriously, that thing is the PERFECT veg panel for me

-runs REALLY cool
-adjustable draw
-EVEN coverage
-Umol range for Veg

Now you understand why im a little pissed off?

Btw, the diagram is made from my SCROG screen, it is actually 7x17 plots, but I cut it to 5x15 for #'s sake and I will not ever use these perimeter plots (there not as big)

Each square represents a 1.5x3" (approx.) plot in my scrog and is measured flush at 18", ill be doing 12, 16, 24" too when I get the time.

***Some clarifying Words***

If you dont have a basic understanding- photons of light are bouncing around, thats what the MQ-200 measures. These readings are NOT gold. Ultimately you are going to want to go with A51's results. They know their spectrum, they have their tools, they are the mfgs. Not me.

I bought my meter, ran my tests, to gauge my light height in my area's. Period. In no way am I affiliated, postively or negatively, with A51.Now, if you come to me and ask which panel you should get. Guess what... depending on your needs. A51 may be my first suggestion.

Let me reiterate- my Area is less than ideal. It is not completely reflective, there are exhaust fans that leak light, hangers are measured and centered- but nothing is perfect. I tried to level things out and measure accordingly, but there is always going to be an imperfection unless you made it yourself. I wanted to know what I, in my space, was delivering to my kids. And even if it wasnt the magnificent 777umol, I was impressed.

Is there supposed to be a diagram....or do i just come up with one in my head...? If its a 'headgram' we be drawing....then i have a few questions:

1) What are the wings for?
2) Will it really project better then a batman signal in the sky?
C) Was it part of the alien landing at Roswell....?

hahahaha yea I had typed it up on my Ipad, then went to the computer to upload the pics... in that amount of time you have all jumped the gun. And yes... it will blow a Batman signal in the sky away..... and stop a speeding bullet. o.0

The lights are "ranged" the same so layouts match up too.

000-250- Blue
250-450- Green
500-700- Orange
700-900- Red
900++++ Dark Red, outlined

My bad the squares aren't "actual size," but I was stoked to have an even "plain" to measure readings on, and a very simple excel sheet to put em on. lol

Nice bro. That is some good work...gets tedious I remember. I love the colors...shows it nicely. Really puts things in perspective with the meter. I go outside and just test random spots in my yard all the time.

How big is the screen/measurement table?

I wonder if a51 will upgrade you possibly.

It was a little bit of a PITA, but that fuckin "Sample" function on the MQ-200 reallyyyyy made life easier, or at least let me make a system out charting things out. (maxes at 99 and I had 75 plots)

The area is just under 3x2" after I had thought about it- there is no way the squares are 1.5x3", im gonna measure a few when I go check the kids.

It is funny as fuck you say that about going outside, I've been WAITING for a clear sky sunny day... its been pretty cool here lately. I use it on 'Electric' under my panels, do you change it to 'sun' when you go outside? I noticed briefly that the readings take a spike under the panels ion 'sun'

it'd be cool.... but like you said, EH seems busy.

lol thanks bra, I was kindve shocked... like.. wtf.... double.triple. check. but the difference in readings from even 18 to 16" is really significant.. at 12" your just spot lighting with most shit... but I want to see. I cant wait to take some more and chart out every scenario... I just have to find the time to do it.. ha Hope all is well in your part 'root!

I change it to sun mode when I go out...I figure thats what that function is for. The sun has hit over 2000µmols on a couple good clear hot days. But even at the end of the day when it's cool there is still like 1400µmols in the light.

I tested anything that light up my first couple days with it.

A51's readings are your best bet to go by. I seriously cant stress things enough when I say every scenario is going to give you something different one way or another. I took the readings at 12" but I don't think adding them up here is going to help a whole lot... this whole project has really taken on a completely different form of a Beast.

I WILL SAY. I love the spread of this panel. Period. I cant say it enough.

When I first started this thread, thats what I was so jacked up about, I shouldn't have bitched about the AW Panel, I hope people realize that's a completely separate topic.

Im curious what Apache has to say about their Meter with Apogee Tags

Ya, but they measure low for the most part...so that is a good side to miss on. If you read par with a spectroradiometer it is higher than the par meter.

AT and the apogee owner are buddies...AT might start selling apogees and have them custom tuned for the AT spectrum(but remember how hard AT can lag). But I said I needed/wanted a meter now so AT just connected me straight to apogee. Well I pulled the trigger and got one right away. When AT heard I got one he sent me this email...

I wasn't going to wait for him to get shit actually done(I know by now how long that could take), so I posted the measurement video you all saw just accepting the slight error. But the point is that AT is getting a version that is perfect for their spectrum/light. Even with the error it is still pretty close and the best tool I/we have access to.

Edit:
Remember that A51 did their par measurement in side a 3x2 reflective tent. That could be the reason for the variation you see between yours and the sites examples.

Lol yea and E had recently told me that he had used a spectroradiometer to determine those #'s, not to mention all the other variables that goes into things.. Thanks for the insight on the meter.

How I understood it was that the meter reads blues higher than what the actual absorption rate it, and that alone threw me off.

I have two identical panels, different in spec, same in draw...

One reads 1532, the other 1154 @ 12"

do I think it could be JUST the meter causing that? Idk... Maybe the amount of phosphor cuts the power a little too. Idk. Makes you ponder.

I am not exactly sure what a -4.6% error means for cool white led? Is that 4.6% lower than shown or the shown will be 4.6% lower than actual. It's close enough for me but if someone wanted to argue it would be nice to know.

I would imagine that your panel output differences comes from both. Different chips/colors and the meters error.
