Increasing dark time at the end of harvest?

Hello RIU members
Hope everyone is having a nice day!

I have a question and I thought to myself "RIU would be a great place to ask my question!"
Okay, my question is: During the last few weeks of flower, could I increase the dark time by an hour a day until I got to like 18 hours of darkness?
I read that darkness is when the THC is produced and if that is true then I would think increasing my dark period would increase potency?
Also don't the natural days get shorter and shorter?
Anyone ever try this with one of their crops?

Heres a few pictures of my girl, I think she will be ready in a few weeks and I want to try increasing her dark period but only if it wont kill her lol

Less light = less weight. just keep on a normal schedule until 2-3 days before harvest. after that, just put them in complete darkness for a few days if it's frost you're looking for.

Yeah, if you have weeks to go I probably wouldn't start increasing dark. However I have heard/read of people decreasing the light to 10 hours with white widow for the last week, then doing 48 hours of dark. But yeah, supposedly just doing it at the end (2-3 days as havek stated) works wonders. I'm definitely gonna try it out.

Edit: your bud is looking dank as shit too, brother! Those buds could model for the pics at a seed bank lol.

I'm not sure why this thread is spiraling out of control with insults and rude behavior, this is the 3rd post I've deleted out of a total of 8 posts.

Can you please stop it with the insults or the thread will be closed.



Edit: I'd like to add that if you do see an inappropriate post then just can simply report it, there is no reason to fire back with your own insults.

I don't know what the problem was, just immature people being immature I guess.

Only the personal attacks and rude comments have been deleted.
So I don't think it's correct to say that everything has been deleted.

1st post was from a new guy, 2nd one was your response to that new guy.
3rd and 4th post was from a third guy who was even more rude than the first two posts were.
And the 5th post was from a fourth guy who was just as rude as the third guy.

All in all 5 posts deleted out of a total of 10.
Which is an appalling "rudeness percentage" if you will.


It seems like the fuss is all over now but I'll keep an eye on this thread just to make sure.
