how do i grow "regular" seeds

so ive got growing from seed down but only female i want to switch to regular because im tired if hermies i put a ton of time and money into my grows only to notice hermied plants it may be one ,may be two but sometimes i miss it and it ruins my crop . i know regulars can do it too but not on the level of female seeds. so how do i start with regs do i grow 10 if im looking for 5 females? when do they show sex? do i flower to see sex than revert to veg? does that stress them? when do i take clones after flower or before flower? this is in newbie central because i consider myself a newb because i still dont know where to start with reg seeds or cloning sexing or creating my own strains or even mother/father selection i get the idea just dont know the details. if you have the time and knowledge i would very much appreciate it!

50%, or a bit less, depending on the quality of the seeds used, is a good rule of thumb. So yeah, plant 10 to yield 5 females. They may not show sex for 2 months, again depending. Usually need 6 or more nodes to see pre-sex signs. So some HID + hrydo grows can get there in 4 weeks. Soil grows will take longer. I wouldn't recommend veg>flower>veg. But if you can't wait, or have space limitations. Take clones after the 3rd or 4 set of leaves come in. If you have a grow that may let you know sex in 4 weeks, cloning and 12/12'ing may not save you much time.

Can't help ya as far as breeding. I use store bought seeds, or "bag seed" from med quality flowers.

I have never had a fem seed go hermie on me so I would wonder if you aren't stressing them somehow.

i have 0% hermi problem and i grow fem auto's and have for years now

My Plan has been to start 1 or 2 seeds and hope to get a female which I'll keep as a mother under 24/7 light. Clone from her. you will have unlimited supply of females from "Regular" seeds.

you can clone feminized seeds and have unlimited supply of females also... i dont see the point grow whatever strain you want some are only feminized because they can only come in clone form. so you are forced to get fem's or clones to get certain strains.

Do you tend to nute burn/catch deficiencies late on your plants a lot? Are there any light leaks in your setup? Does it get super hot in your grow room?
These are all big factors that play roles in herming your plants.

i never get burn but i do get deficiencies mid flower i use organic based nutes so i figure thats the reason. im not a good troubleshooter i know what nitrogen def looks like and mag def but i get stumped on the rest lol!(why im switching to super soil) my plants arent in a super controlled environment temp fluctuates often i use home central ac/heat to try and keep temps down or up it doesnt work best but am looking into controllers,ac,heater i have stood in the room with lights off and didnt see leaks but there is a smoke detector light but its green so i figure its not an issue.

ive grown alot of fems i hate that the ones i want arent in fem form as far as seeds go and alot i cant get a clone of plus i have to rly on someone elses word that the clone is some kill and that it is what i want.

that may very well be the prob (some stress in the environment or my doings) i will have to evaluate my grows and actions.but i still want to grow regs even if the reason for the hermis arent because they were fem and all my fault,i will look into it i love the idea of having my own beast of a plant lol x'ing my own strains thats cool stuff.thanks for your input

Do you live in a place where Ruderalis grows? cause if you do that shit can get on your clothes just from a windy day, then you go check your plants and now you have a chance to get your plants pollinated. Happened to me. But i have that stuff grow all around my house, have to cut them down every year. Good luck

I've been growing regularly for 3 years now.Always use fem seeds, no hermies. My opinion is a light leak somewhere.

i keep meaning to buy some fem seeds but each time i place an order all the strains i fancy are regs only
kinda annoying lol

depending on how much space you have, how big you want the final plants to be etc

i decide when to take the cuttings based on how quickly i need to get the plants into flower

if i wanted to flower quickly after 2-3 weeks veg from seed the plants are still only tiny 6-8 inch they do have shoots on them, but i feel they are too small to take cuttings from
so i would put them on 12/12 which will give them a growth spurt, they will grow more in the first week of 12/12 than they would do in veg from weeks 3-4
i take cuttings during the first week of flower from the females only, the male plants will show pre flowers and club shaped flowers during this time and can be discarded

any plants that are late to show male preflowers (all males should be gone within 5 days of 12/12) i will take cuttings from, if they later show to be males i will just discard those cuttings

if i have more time to spare, i would veg the plants for at least 5 weeks, this will allow them to get to around 2ft tall
i like growing fewer larger plants anyway

i find that the veg phase does not truly kick in until around weeks 4-5 this is when plants are growing very rapidly
also around this time i will be able to see male preflowers without changing photo period , i remove all the males
and take cuttings from the rest, if they are large enough i will put them on flower

if you are worried , the easiest way is to just take cuttings from all the plants before flower label them
flower your plants, then remove the male plants within the first week, if you are not confident about spotting males early from preflowers
you can let them go a bit longer they will be very obviously showing within 2 weeks they will not be mature enough to produce pollen so its ok to let
them go that long if you want to be sure you are removing males , after some practice you will be killing plants at the first sight of a tiny preflower
when they show, discard the cuttings that were taken from those that show as male

that was awsome thanks man i like that idea about labeling them matching the plant they came off of than tossing the clones that came off the male. are there signs a male will show before even showing sex?

last time it was kandy kush and thats trainwreck x og and this time it was a sour kush and thats sour diesel x og ive grown that a few times this is my first time it hermied. i also had 1 pineapple kush herm. im thinking the prob is temp fluctuations, the environment isnt really dialed in like i would like. if there is light getting in it is very very minimal something less than the moon would put out .
