And just how is a smaller government a bad idea? Have you seen the ridiculous things our government spend money on? Robo-squirrel? turtle crossings? i mean really? What happened to a government For the people, by the people? Ill tell you. Progressives ( aka "Liberal Democrats" ) like FDR , Woodrow Wilson, and the like decided they knew better what was good for you than you did, and, fast forward to 2013 and this is the mess we are in. I mean seriously who passes a bill in congress without knowing what it contains unless you already know and don't want people to find out until it is law. this could be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. and I read the little prince, a book about a little boy prince who rules a planet he can walk around, which he protects from evil plants who can tear it apart, and every few minutes he sees the sunset and cries about his beloved flower.....

everybody forgets about the GOOD Roosevelt, the one who reformed the government, started the national parks system, protected the environment before it became a hip and trendy stance, passed child labour laws, broke up the trusts and initiated the Square deal, but they cant stop crowing about BAD Roosevelt, who imprisoned the entire japanese population in america, tried to buffalo the supreme court, instituted illegal and unconstitutional rules by executive fiat, and fucked the Square Deal until the corners fell off and rebranded it as the New Deal which looks and smells suspiciously like Democratic Socialism, which is the fancy way of saying Fascism.

as you read forward in the thread you will discover that in fact this has already been addressed, the provision he describes was in early drafts but was removed and preventative measures installed to get a few R's on the Yes List.

the asshattery was real, and was in the bill, but was edited out and replaced with opposite language to prevent re-insertion later.

This seems like a case a lot of the time, opponents state old drafts of the bill as current, not sure if its accidental or intentional.

apparently unintentional in this case.

the law is so complex the average cat cannot understand it, so he has to get the straight dope from a source they trust, and often that source could be dated, or deliberately deceptive.

if, as the supreme court directed on more than one occasion, laws were crafted so that ordinary non-lawyer types could understand them, this would not be an issue.
