Government by its nature is not peaceful and relies on tactics that are compulsory backed by force or threats of force. Giving a peace prize to somebody "in government" is contradictory.

It would be nice if the peace prize were very occasional, only awarded to people who really did promote peace. Those who combine a will for that with the capacity are very rare air. It's the human way that the capacity to affect the status of conflict gets very heavily selected toward enlightened self-interest.

Acting in a self interest is fine, as long as performing that act doesn't inhibit another from doing the same.

I find it funny to see what was once a prestigious award being used as a political propaganda front.
Of course it's not funny, but the irony of it all is dripping like an STD.
