I have tried to do a diy but I'm a doier more than a shower..
I'll just run thru this and hope youall understand. I can take more pictures and I'll do a better
movie of it in use.
HERE'S THE STORY......

I bought a box fan discard the front and rear grates
Take a pair of tin snips and cut off the plastic fan bladesc as close as you can to the hub.
Mark the direction of rotation on the hub.
Get a piece of 1x1/16" x 16" long your new blade.
Now my fan hub had a nipple in the center so I found center of the steel blade and drilled a 1/2" hole in the center.
Then I layed the blade on the fan hub and marked front and back of were the blade lined up centered on the hub,... Be carful and do this right or the trimmer will run terrible. (shaking from a out of balanced fan blade).
I took a 4" grinder and went from 0 to bottom of the lip on the hub like /
Then I took a 1/8" drill and drilled the blade this tilts the blade like a fan blade, I helped by twisting it first by hand and screwed it to the hub.

I used some ply wood and a BBQ grill on the bottom I had to face the nipple on the hub with a knife while it ran ( BE VERY CARFUL) that helps keep the blade close to the bottom of the grill.

That's a start like I said I can take different pictures, this sucker works like a charm!!!
Cheers.

Oh yea I plan on bringing this to Doubljj's BBQ in Dec. so if your there you can get a better look. Bring some stalk and you can give it a run. :)

What is the BBQ grill sitting on(Box fan frame) or something else? And how much clearance would you guess is in between your blade and grill?

What about using a lawn mower blade? I know getting the hole in the EXACT center can be very hard for most people.

Too thick and too heavy for the motor are a few reasons. I've actually got my finger thumped by the blade but not cut. It is sharp but not
knife sharp. I did it that way because weed wacker line runs 1/8" -3/32" . my blade is 1/16" and slightly sharpened.

Hint for finding center is get it as close as you can, mount the blade on the fan hub, spin it by hand and find the high end mark and grind off with a grinder.

Now you've gone and done it dirt; what about using weed whacker line in place of a metal blade? :)

Nope because of the relative closeness of the Grate and the blade you can't have anything moving.

My next project I'd like to get involved in would be designing a Harvester for Hemp, there isn't one I guess since
the first farm to legally grow Hemp has to harvest by hand and they have 50 some acres to do.
