The Car Talk Thread

I'd guess it handles like most race cars in the snow...

Sounds like you need a lesson in roll center and suspension geometry. Too much for me to type on my phone at the moment but the internet is an ocean of information.

Yes its supposed to be like that. That camber is pretty tame and most likely track tuned.

That car wont go two feet in 4 inches of snow. I`m not the expert in suspension roll, but I don`t see the need for that. Forgive me for not knowing everything. Besides, unlike the internet searches, people here can post back to ya.

Because racecar...

I`m definitely not an auto body guy but follow the black trim from the curblight to the turn signal, down at least an inch or more, because of that the headlamp wont close right and those fender extensions, look like lick and stick. What a piece of shit work done to an otherwise nice ride !i

Function > Form

Bumper fitment doesn't add performance. Most drift cars end up tearing bumpers off a couple times a season, that's why most of them just use zip ties to secure them so they can break away easy without destroying the bumper.

Some people like to park hard, and others like to drive hard.

That`s why I asked about the snow, I drift in my pick up with a blade full of snow all the time, drifting aint no big thing !i Try it with no traction, it`s super fun not knowing where you`ll stop.

That's not drifting. Next time try it in excess of 100mph while maintaining total control.

[h=2]Gullwing America P/904 Carrera a 1960s modern day classic retro project car[/h] 03 Mar

[h=1]Specialty coachworks firm Gullwing-America latest retro project car, the P/904 Carrera.[/h]
[h=3]A throwback to the Porsche Carrera 904 GTS from the mid 1960s, the P/904 resembles a modern day re-interpretation of the mid-engine Porsche race car.[/h] [h=3]
Porsche 904, officially known as Carrera GTS is usually on display at the Porsche museum, but as we can see from the video above it does get back to the track once in a while. This time with a legendary driver Walter Röhrl who beautifully shows us a how to handle this 1964 Carrera (904) GTS on the track. [/h]
[h=3]The first prototype will utilize the platform from a 987 Porsche Boxster (2005 – 2011) and will provide all the necessary modern amenities and controls such as the instrument panel, air conditioning, LED lights, iPod docking station, navigation system, steering wheel and seats but with the retro look of the original.[/h]
[h=3]The prototype will also retain the 6-speed manual transmission and 3.4-liter boxer engine with 295HP (217kW / 291bhp) as well as power steering and ABS among other modern basics. A sport tuned exhaust will give it that racecar sound and the adjustable suspension will provide the dynamic handling and ride height.[/h]
[h=3]The exterior body of the P/904 will be constructed of composite material and will be complemented by GWA’s custom-designed 5 spoke wheels in 18×8 size at the front and 18×10 in the rear.[/h]
[h=3]The estimated cost of the conversion is approximately 70,000 euros. This does not include any additional customization or the donor Boxster, which can be purchased in RHD if required.[/h] [h=3]

Now that is a sexy fucking car! What a shame I don't have an extra Boxster with 70k euros extra sitting somewhere.

Love the side view as it still looks enough like the og, but not crazy about the rear view, as it looks a bit too much like a lotus exige IMO.. ( sorry MRE, lol).. :)

I'd like to see a Ferrari 365GTB body kit for something modern and brutal, like a Z06 Vette ...

Well the bad part of your plan c/n is a donor z06 vette is going to be pricey right off the bat, where as donor Porsche boxters can be had for around 10k or so, maybe much cheaper if it's got a bit of body damage..

Oh. If I were gonna do the 904 conversion, I wouldn't do it to a heavily-used Boxster. Might as well build on a clean reliable platform ...

But I know, I know, if you've got the $120k (70 bps) for a conversion, you more than likely also have the money for the z06 donor as well..
I just don't happen to live in that world is all..

lol neither do I!
So if I'm gonna dream, I might as well indulge in the really satisfying delusions lol

I don`t have a problem with that. My problem is $$$$ for HP. I`d do it in a 70 skylark GSX stage 1 like this when I can get it.
