you mean Chinese made... You forget the GM plants are in China thanks to Obama a few years ago.
so what your telling me is that since ford sells a shit ton of cars in Australia that they are now a foreign car company? every auto maker has expanded to other countries to keep up with the competition. plus the u.s. gov still owns 1/3 of all shares in gm and its also still based out of Detroit. why ship cars to other countries when you can just build them there for them instead and save the exporting and importing costs?

also.

^^^^ you never heard about the auto industry collapse and the so many Detroit plants that closed. Obama bailed them out and had plants relocated to China... Detroit is one of the poorest cities in the U.S. now. Ford is crap. Their stock is worth less than junk bonds. Fords break down more than any car.

Hyroot check your facts, Ford has industry average for dependability (break downs)..... In fact Lincoln their premier line is #3 in Reliability! Stick that where your facts don't shine! I love my Shelby GT Mustang!
BIACH and I mean that most sincerely and with all due respect for your ability to postulate nonsense! :):wink:bongsmilie

Ford owns lincoln but thet don't build them. ford owns jaguar but jags are still built in england. try consumer reports, auto week, car and driver, road & track, edmunds. All more reliable sources. according to them the most dependable is toyota / lexus, ford is onb the worst car list. for stock check forbes

Fix Or Repair Daily!
My 1965 Mustang had an electrical problem (relay) they could never fix. My wifes 1982 EXP was in the shop every month under warranty and we gave it back.

My 95 Toyota is the best car I have ever owned (besides my 71 Datsun 510, 1970 240Z, and 1978 810)

They built GM plants in China because the Chinese loves Buicks :) The new Cadillacs are definitely a step in the right direction for American cars.

MO, come back home to First On Race Day!

Your experience with Ford was back in the day when they didn't see the competition coming, Japan knew they had to make more reliable vehicle to steer us away, cause we're Americans and we demand value for what we pay! And it didn't hurt they entered the American auto market when fuel prices were rising due to feared shortages "Middle East Turmoil".

I've owned both foreign and domestic and with anything man each each was subject to failure. Today's cars are another world from what was created in the days of Detroit!
Bottom line you get what you pay for, its clear looking at mostly high end models of which manufactures have limited or few choices of platforms they can put all the resources on making the best.
When it comes to what an average citizen can afford I think it is luck of the draw on the whole, for everything is subject to failure that is made by man. Larger manufactures with multiple platforms are going to be average with industry standards and what competition brings.

So Hyroot, more power too you if you can afford a top of the line luxury car where the manufacture is focused on limited platforms segmented to the 1%
The rest of the 99% of us are stuck with industry average! IMHO of course said the horse trying not to make an ASS of himself...

wow... really. I never said what I have and what I paid. I just said ford are crap, and so is their stock. Found On Roadside Dead

I buy used with in a few years old. Price drops dramatically after the first year with any car.. Learn how to shop and haggle the price, It's a buyers market. I know how to fix my own car. If you go to a dealership, never deal with a salesman. Go straight to the Fleet Manager and get the volume invoice price. If you know the vice president of a north american division of a car company and their family. Then that helps too..... They only hook me up with brand new cars. I don't like to finance.

Don't hate because you pay full price and don't know how to negotiate and you were proved wrong

Actually I am more like you when I shop, however to say Fords are crap is truly subjective and not truly objective. First of all I rather support Ford whose product is on par with everyone else's in their market that didn't take my tax dollars to get their business model straighten out. And the good new is BUY LOW when talking about stock so if anything you should be happy unless you bought high of course and now are the true hater?

Ford stock has gone up 11 cents since June. Its expected to drop back to $17 a share and stay there through the next year. So that would be a bad investment.

I believe the golden rule still applies Buy Low Sell High as apposed to buy high and sell low. As we know no long term investor building a nest egg puts it all in one stock. More like a proven mutual fund that has averaged 10 -12% annually in gains over a sustained time. That would look like these and their annual percentage of return over the long haul will out perform any Certificate of Death (CODs) and other financial vehicles, ie Life Insurance Saving accounts, Term Life that is all one needs period!

Here are a few Funds out there that have performed and performed well (managed properly) over the long term..

end of this we took up too much of Mo's. thread on this subject. This is the best recorde year in sales that ford has had in decadesssss . its gone up $1 over the past year. You would need a minimum of 10,000 shares to make anything. Its not worth it. Best investments imo is medical tech and computer or gaming tech right before a new release.. Car companies are too much of a gamble. if I were to invest in car stock. It would be Mercedes. They always have the highest sales numbers.

Years ago in 97 I bought stock in playboy for $6 a share. A few days later Jenny McCarthy was on the cover of the new issue. Stock went up to $11 a share. I sold a week later. I made a killing.

I love the way the new Fords look. They are definitely working on their image. After the hell we went through with the EXP my wife would never let me buy a Ford.

The Tesla is looking very interesting or the Cadillac ELR.

I have a 1978 VW Convertible I want to sell - fully restored, balanced and blueprinted. My kids didn't want to drive a stick! The world is all messed up :P

i payed 25 grand for my truck when it was valued at 35gs. i can haggle. its not that. i just dont like the cost associated with modding foreign cars. american made muscle is just easier to mod and fix in my opinion. just like tuning is to the Japanese and Chinese over seas.
