if getting an apollo get the aquarium model. You can run more whites. The aquarium models have drivers on 2 separate plugs . The drivers can run a higher mA than the grow models. They will last longer with out failure issues and you will get better results with the aquarium models rather than the grow models. The aquarium models run slightly less watts and are cheaper. Withe more whites they will have higher PAR (umole/s)

12 leds per module

x2 630
x2 660
x5 2700k -3000k
x3 5000k

I used to have an apollo 10 grow.

Personally I would go with Cree globes from home depot http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cree-9-5-Watt-60W-A19-Warm-White-2700K-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-1-Pack-BA19-08027OMF-12DE26-1U110/203991774

or Hans led panels http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow.html

You can buy moguls. Or get outlet to socket plugs. Plug those into extension cords and the cord will act as a mogul. You don't have to wire anything.

Apollo grow. Has way too much red. No color balanced . They fail after about 3 months to 15 months. They will produce good results. Not as good as the aquarium models. They just don't last. oh the Apollo 10 only covers a 2x4. You should go with any of the other options. The Cree globes will be the cheapest and best warranty

for me I plan that hanging 4 moguls with 3 y splitters running 4 bulbs per mogul vertically in the center stadium vert style.. 8 3 gals / 5 gals or 6 7 gals / 10 gals

.

sorry i havent heard of a mogul can you send me a link please.
if the apollos have short lives, are they easy to claim warranty

here is mine with vert cfl using extension cords and outlet to socket plugs plus t5. I will be switching those to globes eventually and get rid of the t5's

Why are you trying to get rid of your t5's? I've been considering adding a couple of t5's for additional lighting to my Apollo8. The LED is working well on its own, but it has such a small footprint...trying to make more of a 4x4 space than is currently being utilized.

My Apollo's light configuration (for comparison) is: 48 x 660nm, 26 x 630nm, 16 x 470nm, 8 x 430nm, 8 x 615nm, 8 x 520nm, 8 x 3000k

imo 864 watts is alot for a 4x4. With globes or hans panels I could run a 1/2 of that of that power in 4x8... Led produces less heat than bad boy fixtures. Plus with cfl's I'm running 1140w in 4x4 now. Luckily my electricity is super cheap. That only costs me $32 a month.

Why would you think cidily has a clue about growing mj?:spew:

Thanks to high; efficiency/lumens/CRI of today's NW/WW, individual spectrum led engines are totally unnecessary

Read through the LED section for many examples

sorry to be a dumbass but what was nw/ww

I amend my statement about individual spectrums being totally unnecessary.

People pushing the envelop is always a good thing. Eventually it has trickle down benefits.

Todays' NW/WWs are vastly superior to those just ~ one year ago, and much is soon to be released to make them even better. Typically, you pay more for the tricked out stuff

Growers like captainmorgan, and myself, have proven that you can grow some damn fine meds with common (non horticulture oriented) NW/WW leds. When I say common, I am not referring to the cheap chinese knock-offs, although I would rank my led tubes among those, and still got a decent yield that is of excellent quality

When you start mixing and matching individual engines it is too easy to overshoot or undershoot essential spectrums, which can throw the whole balance off. NW/WW errs on the side of caution

Pet....when addressing newer members on the site. I think you should back up some statements with numbers. Their definition of decent yield may be very different to yours... I know it isnt important to you... But new 'LED HEADs' looking to invest money, time and energy go by these figures to decide if LED's are right for them.

I dont know if you can put yourself in the same category as CaptainMorgon just yet.... :)

No love from chroniK I see:wall:

Actually, I hear you, but was well on the way to showing what ~ 72w of common retrofit WW led tubes + ~ 47 w WW of A19s (2 Cree @ 9.5w + a Feit RP @ 17w + Philips RP @ 12w) = 115~ LED w can do in a 2 x 4 x 5ft tent, but only 2 plants were female (I had already moved one to the hot5 tent) and since there was room there, I moved the last led female upstairs and shut down the led tent. Why waste electricity?

You saw the pics before moving them, and they looked fat and happy, and were fattening up nicely

The last led plant is on the left in my hot5 pics. Size wise, it is virtually the same as the one on the far right (which has been in the hot5 several weeks longer), although the one on the left is expressing ~ 50% sat whereas the one on the right ~ 60% indica.

Now, that I have the 2 A51 ufos @ 45w to toss into the led tent, that test is over. They will replace the A19s, which are currently lighting the G13 male outside the hot5 tent. FYI I am using the WW ufo as side lighting

The 6 Melanie clones will be too tall (and too wide) for my 5ft led tent. (In retrospect, due to width, I should have only taken 2 clones). I may take 2-3 clones from the smaller WHx and grow them in the revised led tent

GPW is a worthless barometer

If you grow 1 plant under X watts gpw is down- 2 plants double- 3 plants...

AND what strain? Some are bushier than others

Imo anything less than 0.7 grams per watt is not considered a decent yield.

Anything less than 2 zips per 3 gallons of soil is unacceptable. With gpw. If you fill the maximum space is does apply.
