Sun drying questions

Im a new grower and throughout my research i have come across the concept of sun drying, which most people don't recommend, as quite rightly, sunlight degrades thc.

a few questions that i could not find the answers to:

The degrading of the thc....is this the MATURING of the thc? Ie would all trichs eventually turn amber if left to dry in the sun, or just even with indirect regular daylight?

If so here is the REAL question: can one harvest early, while trichs are clear, and dry in the sun/daylight til the desired thc maturity is acheived?

No...amber trichs are degraded, if put in sunlight they will turn amber and potency will plummet as will flavor...let it go longer if that's what you desire, denser bud that yields more...I prefer mostly cloudy

Yeah they are degraded thc but also cbn right? For couch lock? Either way, could you not chop while trichs are clear and sun dry till cloudy? In principle

How is it possible for thc to mature/degrade after harvesting then? This is the main reason people say not.to sun dry......

oops! Thats what i meant.....thc.degrades into other active conponents.......so say buds are lookin.nice but trichs are clear. If.i chopped and.sun dried, would the thc.continue to become.cloudy, or would it stay clear? If it stays clear then drying.in the dark is a myth, as if i chopped when cloudy and dried in the sun, no further maturing would occur as the previous poster red suggested that no further maturing.would occur

There is a difference between maturation and degradation.
If chopped at clear they will turn cloudy then eventually amber as it degrades.. but this has nothing to do with maturation in the trichomes. You don't want amber trichomes... if your looking for couch lock pick up an indica dom high in cbds. The trichome turns cloudy when it stops metabolizing/creating cannabinoids, it then changes color as the ones their degrade..but allowing the plant to mature first will put more their and in different ratios of terpenoids so that it smells good and a better high....then let it degrade if you so choose.....hope that made sense

Ripen and decay are different. For bud to ripen like the way youre talking about it needs to be on the plant, because the plant is breaking down the sugars or whatever processes that are happening to give it those mature characteristics (amber trichs heightened cbd profile etc). Buds that are cut off and put outside are just being blasted with the suns radiation, like a sunburn or a soda can thats been on the ground for a year. Hope that made sense

in a documentary about hash in Moroco, the farmers cut the plants and just put it on the roofs to dry under the sun.
