I can't believe this is still being discussed. The only time to flush is when you take a massive dump, or have used too much nutes. End of story. Unfortunately, I believe most synthetic growers DO you too much fert adn it may need to be flushed lightly before harvest. But just grow organic and you won't have problems....

Unless you are an idiot like me and mix your soil and forget to put the bale of coco in. Then fill your pots with SUPER RICH SOIL, add some clones, and get a bit of nute burn. I repotted (removing some of the rich soil, added some more coco, and flushed lightly.

Again. Flushing is an oh shit thing IMO. Not something to do at the end of every grow.

Call me wrong if you wish....I've done multiple side by side runs, and in both cases bud was delicious and got no complaints.. in fact the flushed bud started to fox tail and fluff out..what I've noticed from flushing is that fan leaves yellow and buds stay green.. the bud literally didn't change during the flush besides new growth being larfy..and yes I only grow landrace sativas if you were wondering why they continue to grow constantly...a proper flush gets rid if any chlorophyll taste.. and even dark dark green bugs are good after a cure if for some reason you over ferted....

So anyone who says you should flush is completely wrong.......see I can do it too

Of course you have to flush. You want your buds to have nothing to grow on but water during the stage they put on the most weight.
The same 1s who say don't trim fan leaves because they provide energy for bud growth. Turn right around and kill their fan leaves by flushing. LOL

This stage in the life cycle its a little late to worry about them starving. I've seen vigorous growth on flushed, doesn't affect the outcome one bit, if anything, the plant may actually increase thrich production in the attempts to catch some pollen. I teach everyone how to use nutrients properly, even using properly 14 out of 15 flush. It won't hurt anything at all...JAS

Flushing the last wk, I agree with you. But there's a lot of people who say to flush the last 2 to 3 wks. If they flush 2 wks out, that's 25% of the flower time. I don't see how that could not have a negative effect on final bud development.
But, at the same time, I guess the type of nutes used, and how aggressively they were used would play a big part in it.
There are times when more is definitely not better. I mean look at all these different snake oils people add to try and get bigger buds.

10 gallons through a 5 gallon pot is stupid. Of course you do not have to flush.
I used to flush then discovered that it is unnecessary and stresses the plant with no benefit.

Outside of real organic grows, isn't it best to clear water the last 7-10 days prior to harvest? Now I don't mean the 3-5 gallon times your pot size type of flushing. I'm talking just clear water watering with your regular Rez amount before harvest. I could be way off base, but I'm feeling some people r getting confused from a real flushing to a clear watering 7-10 days prior to harvest.

That post was meant as a joke. Notice I pointed out the negative effects.

My in-grounds tasted like chlorophyll...a month of curing resolved that issue.

Next year I'll make sure to drive a watering truck into the woods...where I shall flush the earth.:mrgreen:
