I need to know if this is true or if it could be and i should try it. yoou give your plant co2 with a huge tank and wat not, i heard tht all u gotta do is go to walmart, get tht 2 pak of prefilled paintball co2 tanks, those lil alumnum ones. go to lowes get a knob, build it out of plumbing fictures and twist the knob u just assembled and throw it into ur grow room and leave it till the next day, do this once weekly.......

sure it could work.

you wouldnt have a way of knowing the ppms of co2 tho.

its also setting off my bullshit meter

Think man think, those stupid lil paint ball tanks are going to cost a fortune in the long run & as LB pointed out you have no way to control or know the ppm.

Co2 is not some miracle thing that you can just scab together with some home made juice or knobs & paint ball tanks, instead try to better your grow op in other ways, like lighting or ventilation,it will give yo a much better result over some kooky home made CO2 rig, either do CO2 the proper way or dont do it at all because most likely you'll be wasting time & cash.

Get into CO2 AFTER your grow op is properly set up for it.

NO

1. Even with Co2 your air needs to be evacuted regularly (3 hours max).
2. Your goal is to reach 1500 Parts per million (300 in air 1200 from source)
3. There is absolutly no point in using Co2 unless you have the following
A. At very least 600w HPS light in a small area
B. A measured min 800 PPM nutes perfectaly P/H ballanced
C. The ability to keep the room temps between 75-90deg (Co2 grow rooms are warmer.)
Bottom line, if you don't understand what I have said, you are not ready for Co2 yet. In order for the Co2 to be effictive, the plant needs more light, more food, and higher temps. All in the proper balance.

Great info but the only correction is number #1----If your running co2 you don't need ventilation unless its just to remove heat or humidity. Very nice post though.

Remember you need to bring in the origional 300ppm that is in the air or you will go through co2 much faster

The cycle of life is

Animals breath o2 and exhale co2------plants take in co2 and release o2.
Within 3 hours time majority of the co2 will have become o2 so you cycle your air (because it has to be displaced) and refill you chamber to 1500ppm and it starts again. The more light and nutes you have the faster it will happen.

any suggestions on a set up for a very tiny veg clone area? of course i wouldnt need anything big just enough because where i have my plants in kind of a tight area and it would be nice to get them at least some co2 being as the area is kind of a dresser grow.

So what is the best CO2 controller on the market and where can i get one?
ohhh the best is expensive.

There are two great ways to add co2

1. by having a co2 ppm controler
Discount Hydroponics - C.A.P. Xtreme Greenhouse Controller

This will give you perfect ppm and it controls a ton of other stuff too.

Or Fuzzy logic

2. A co2 regulatior that is on for a specific time based on the size of your room (does not account for leaks)
Discount Hydroponics - Dual Tank CO2 Regulator

I hear ya and the info in your post is great but as I said before you don't need ventilation---In the summer my rooms use tanks of co2 and the lights are air-cooled passive(they never push or pull air from the rooms) the rooms are air-tight and we never run ventilation. We use the C.A.P. with FUZZY LOGIC to keep our rooms at 1500ppm's(light on only) A lot of growers believe you need to run ventilation with co2 but it's just not true-----Our rooms consistently turn out---.5 to 1.2 grams per watt depending on the strain---and plants are healthy and green.--------FYI----plants give off co2 as well as O2. I'm sure you knew that though.

you need air flow not co2 supplementation for your veg cycle.

Here's what I use co2 regulator & a 50 gallon tank. I also run my grow room with no ventilation & my plants turn out fine. My rooms 15x6, got the flow set so the room stays around 1800 ppm. It took me about 5 months to go through a tank, the first time.

I'm freaking jealous---I've got to re-evaluate my set-up--------I go through a tank(20pounds) every week----My controller keeps my room at 1500----the fuzzy logic was suppose to be very efficient on the gas-----guess it's not.
