What would you do?

If you had a 5' x 3' x 8'tall area with three girls. Would you run 2 400hps and 1 400 mh light or 1 1000 watt with the 145,000lumen bulb? Would the 1 be more cost efficient and or better?

Area is way to small to run 2 hps and if its veg you need only mh the 1000 watt would be very hot so it would have to be set high. I would go with 1 400 mh that should be plenty for that amount of space.

I would run two 400hps and 1 400mh as you will be able to cover the area more completely. With a setup like that and good ventilation system (cause they're going to make a lot of heat) your end up with some good shit. Good Luck

my plan is to run (3) 600' watts OVER (2) 1000's. you will save money as well. Three 600 watt hid's deliver more light to plants than 2 1000's. Plus you can move the lamps closer to the canopy w/o as much heat stress.

your goal is to give your plants 10,000 lumens

1000 watt *lumen pr watt*= 140
1 foot away= 140,000
2 feet away= 35,000
3 feet away= 15,555
4 feet away= 9,999

600 watt *lumen pr watt*= 150
1 foot away= 90,000
2 feet away= 22,500
3 feet away= 9,999
4 feet away= 6,428

400 watt *lumen pr watt* = 125
1 foot away = 50,000 lumens
2 feet away= 12,5000
3 feet away= 5,5555
4 feet away= 3,571

(3) 600 watt HPS lamps at 270,000 lumens at the cost of ($0.1 an hour)

(2) 1000 watt HPS lamps at 280,000 lumens at the cost of ($.20) an hour)

I guess I will stay with the 2hps and 1 mh. This is my second grow with that set up and it has worked god so far. By the way that is my flower room. the veg has 1 mh. thank you very much.

3 plants under that much light...? i thought that was a little overboard but should produce some super dense buds!
i run a 600W HPS in my 3'x3'x7' grow room for flowering and it works pretty well.
i would prob run 1 400Whps and 1 400w MH in that area, but i'm a little paranoid about energy use...
