I have Pollen everywhere!!! While that was my intention, I will be starting a new grow soon and i need it to go away. I have heard of using a bleach water mix to kill pollen but i have also read that just water will kill pollen, So which is it?

And on a side note how long can i store pollen and whats the best way? Freezer?

Thanks for the help

For a new grow, you need to sanitize anyway. Things that need to be eliminated is spider mites, nosy people, mold fungi, & pollen. Fresh pollen is best, storing in zip-lock bags in fridge is ok. Seems the rules are the same with pollen & seeds. The fresher, the better. My reasoning is that if pollen needs to be stored properly, and you need to clean up the grow room, then the non-properly kept pollen won't effect your new grow, which wouldn't matter until the new grow is ready to flower. By then, the pollen is impotent. Bleach water will work, but it's bad stuff. 2 oz of orange oil, cup of vinegar, & a splash of dish dish washing soap per gal of water will solve your problem, as far as I'm concerned.

water renders pollen useless
That's counterintuitive. Can you back that statement up? Nothing I'm finding supports that assertion, although I have found alcohol and gaseous agents, along with irradiation being mentioned as effective. I'm assuming those mentions of alcohol are speaking of isopropyl alcohol.

You've got to be kidding me. :| You're drawing that kind of parallel between pollen and semen and sperm utilized in the animal world?

So, would you have any idea how flowering plants have managed to proliferate on earth if water kills the pollen that is often disseminated via wind? What if it, you know, rains?

Edit: How one "kills" pollen (would be helpful to have an actual term for this) seems to be dependent upon a few factors. See this link to get an idea of what I mean --> Google book results--Dangerous Liaisons: When Cultivated?

i think water is only effective until it dries, at which point it can fly wherever it wants yet again. in nature, it rains quite a bit.

mmm. beer. good idea . full sail here. got some pacifico tho if that's what we're doing.
Dave's favorite (well, besides his peach heffeweizen, but none has been brewed). :D
(clink of bottles)

One thing he hates, though, is that since I don't have the pillion on my sled I have a different technique for getting the Pacifico home. I take out a few bottles (one row), then step on the box so it'll fit in my bike bags. First time I came home he got all upset, "What happened to the BEER???" Then I showed him the rest were stashed further back in the bags. Ok, gotta change and go!
