I think he just means you twist and bend them. You don't want to turn the insides to pulp, exactly. A better analogy is how you build muscle, as you stretch or bend the stem to one side or the other, it will start to feel like the stem isn't as stiff as it was when you started. Thats enough. Its not necessary to damage your plants in any way. When you stretch them, tiny tears are created in the fibers and veins that run up and down the stalk. The idea is that by doing this, the stem must repair itsekf, and gets thicker, stronger, and better at transporting nutrients and other good stuff around because the stalk is just bigger. If you are doing anything that the plant hasn't recovered from the next day, then it's my opinion that you have done too much. I think of it as yoga for my plants.
I've never tried twisting, just concentrated bending, however that sounds like a good idea if you don't overdo it. If you never cause very much damage, it won't add any time to your veg period, just fatten the stem up so that when you are ready to flower you have a thick stem to bring up everything important.
To the person who posted this thread. Wow! What a score! Thats a good veg fertilizer. When the plant starts to show sex, if its a girl you are gonna want to use something like NPK 5-30-15 for the first part of flowering. If you have the resources, switch to something like NPK 0-30-10 when you have about a month to harvest. This will make the fan leaves turn yellow (from lack of nitrogen, its ok though) as the plant draws on it's own energy to boost trich production. This is a natural process, so don't worry. At about this time, if you are able, ad something like MagiCal, something with a magnesuim and calcium boost in it. These minerals aid your buds in trich/crystal production, and will also make your buds a little bigger. Also, you are gonna wanna stop using fertilizers or supplements of any kind for at least 2 weeks to flush the nutrients out of the root system. Just use water for these 2 weeks, no additives. Otherwise you can taste the fertilizers in your smoke! Blech! Also, you shouldn't fertilize every time you water, rather like every third or fourth time. But if your mom is taking care of all that, then you don't even need to worry about it! just make sure theres no nutes for 2 weeks before harvest, and you might want to try some of that stuff i mentioned about a month or a little more before harvest. You will probably only need to use it with two or three applications, but it really does help with bud development. These are personal opinions based on experience, I hope it was of some help. Good luck bro.
