Hi guys. I think I may have posted in the wrong thread. I'm building a custom aero system and I would be very interested to know if anyone is gong full term consistently, with no root rot? If your are I'd love to know if you do anything different to the norm. Thank you.

The only way to avoid rot root is use highly oxygenated nutrient solution that can penetrate the complete root mass. A fine mist using short cycle times to penetrate a massive root ball will never work.
 
Thank you Hammer 21. I plan on using a 6000lph pump to run just 4 amazon sprinklers. I'm also considering some sort of direct nutrient injection to the very middle of the root mass directly underneath the net pot and neoprene collar. Something like a constant drip feed.

I recommend a product called Hydro Sparkle also know as Hydro Fungicide where its made in Australia. I have not had a single problem with root rot since I began using it. Its a non toxic reservoir additive which prevents any single celled organism from growing while allowing the roots to flourish. As a rescue measure it can be used in higher concentrations to remedy root rot. I live halfway across the planet so IDK if its available where you are. It is available in Eastern Canada. just my 2 cents. keep your nutrient solution under 70 degrees if this is a problem get a chiller, after every harvest clean everything with bleach.

You are very welcome Spotlights! I hope you can find it. If you can I think you will love how well your garden does with it. Another thing that I like about it is that it works well with H2O2 since it doesn't off gas like chlorine based preventatives. So, reservoir temperatures somewhat higher than optimal don't become a life threatening condition. A combination dosing of Hydro Fungicide and H2O2 provides all the protection and oxygen the roots require even at up to 10% higher than optimal temperature.

I have been using it(Zone) on and off. There is a gold and a black version. Unsure of the differences, as DM doesn't respond to inquiries. I have a jug of gold.
Using Ebb&Gros, and have been overwatering...the standing water coupled with a hot day and no AC really contributed to problems, particularly the plants that were getting watered in the system, which did not really require it.
The main issue I have with Zone, is that it has no recommended top off instruction, and without a measuring standard and means, doesn't allow for a very objective analysis. So when the amount is too concentrated or dilute, there is no means of knowing.
A top off recommendation is the least they can do. If you are draining to waste, it's clear how this is to be used. But for those of us using recirculating systems, if there are no topping off suggestions, or standards and means of measuring, we are left guessing and shooting in the dark.

That's what I do. My roots are extremely white until flower. Then they are the same color of the nutes. This isn't root rot though, it is just staind.

I've heard of adding a little hydrogen peroxide. But I've never really experimented with it.

On top of that, many manufacturers recommend against using Peroxide as it has an adverse reaction to organic compounds.
 
I used to use the full DM Gold line, but switched to Hydroponic-Research VEG+BLOOM, which has all the individual Gold line ingredients, but in a DRY POWDER- and IME (side by side) is a much better nutrient. Why pay to ship water, especially when like everything else, there is good and bad water

Last grow I posted some root shots- they were pretty white. Drop by that thread if interested

It's Quaternary Ammonium, I haven't heard of it used this way, but it probably works. they use it for sanitizing dishes in restaurants if your looking for it. Chlorine bleach, and calcium hypochlorite (used as a pool shock) work pretty good too.

I assume we can lump Chamber temps into that as well yeah? Before I painted my tops to white from black, I was hitting super high inner Chamber temps, no matter the res temp.

I've heard that. Like it messes with the organisms that live on the roots. People seem to have great success using it though so who the hell knows... Well I guess a scientist would know bongsmilie

I think its just certain pure organic ferts Im not sure either. I know Botanicare specifically advises against it. Thats what I use so I stay away from the Peroxide
 
I have found that the key to no root rot is mainly res temp. keep it under 70* and I also use aquasheild every time I do a res change or top off. Keep room temp under 80* res temp under 70* and most growing problems go away
