I notice the water in his vids was really clean too. Im guessing his model may have a small screen or he added on. He also made it a point not to pulverize/powderized the trim by letting it soak up for some time.

I didnt see the exact one he uses until I already ordered the panda, and the one that I found that he has was only $70.
Im thinking a small screen of some sort can be put inside of the washer bucket... Pantyhose

A very clear water is not a norm, the range of colors is amazing and will tell you a lot about your work. Yesterday I had a red wine from a Cherry Pie, a dark purple from a Royal Kush and a light pink from a Cherry Lemonade. The only color you do not want is that shitty (can I say that Suni?) army khaky green.

Let's get back to basic:
The question to ask is what is the size of a perfectly ripe and mature trichomes. Answer: Between 70 and 120 microns average
Now think about what you find in your smaller micron bags and you tell me.
When you say "powdery like Kief" do you mean that it has a kind of waxy texture or just dry?
The look is not reliable as quality control, the smell and the smoke on the other hand.....
You just learned that prettiness is not always goodness

you can light it if it bubbles it high quality. Theres so many variables when it come to witch bag is going to be the best but mainly strain dependent, some strains that sweet spot might be 90 micron others might be 120 micron and so on

I would like to clarify that I meant it looked clean of green material. I did notice the nice golden color on the first wash of the pierre nora in your tutorial pt1, you also mentioned the color as well, and how that strain and kushes tend to give you more in the beginning washes.

I will say that the water was rather polluted with trichomes though

The question was, why was there so little green material draining from the machine? I was thinking because you let the trim soak for some time to soften up before agitation (like you pointed out) thus keeping it from breaking apart too much, and/or theres a pre filter in the drain already?

Theres a a little grid in the bottom of the washer it catches a lot of stuff before it drains to the work bag.

70 micron has always been my best bag as far as quality is concerned. The others are nice but not like the 70. I seem to enjoy the 45 as well.

This is my firs real attempt at ice water hash. I got the bags in today but no machine yet, In the mean time I decided to do a small test run with one oz of trim.

This is all 4 washes mixed together from 1oz of trim. The 4th wash had almost no yield but what little it gave looked just as fine if not better than the third wash. They all looked splendid though thats why I mixed em together. The pics are missing the bit from 45 first run, It was great I couldnt help myself


Probably still moist so Ill leave it spread out over night, pressing with some heat tomorrow

What you call sweet spot is the bag that give you the cleaner end product, most people found that in the 90. What do you not understand about the whole being better than the part? Run a load of trims and separate the 70, 90 and 120, run the other half of the trims and collect everything in the 70. You will taste the difference and understand what I mean

I pressed today, just like you showed to a tee, just on a much smaller scale. My water may have been too hot though I could barely keep my hands on the jar

Bubbles much more vigorously now that its pressed, is that normal?
And the evap iso from cleaning the bags is full melt, very potent but lacks the flavor of the bubble.

The machine came in today, I know what I'll be doing for the next 5 hrs

WHY is everybody using the antiqued & needlessly labour intensive "Hot Water Bottle" roll/press technique!!!!....I use a electric Heavy iron set to the EXACT & CONSTANT temperature!!!....I can get a BETTER product in Faaaaaaaaaaaar LESS time!!!...and can be pressed...."Paper THIN"!!!...use the zip lock bag, spread out your material. place a paper towel over the zip lock, and get to PRESSING!!!...after the resin has melted into a formed THIN patty & is still warm, place into freezer for a minute or two, this will make removal of the thin patty from the bag, effortless!!....now you can begin to fold the patty onto itself, similar to the way a Japanese Master Sword maker will "Fold" the red HOT metal onto itself. Fold the pliable patty onto itself & repeat the pressing/melting technique....

Once you have tried this method, you will look at & consider the "Hot Water Bottle" technique as antiqued & ineffective as using stone tablets to write on...Alex

The question I was answering I believe was referring to a multi bag extraction, but I agree with you if you want to use the least bags possible your 73 bag is king for sure but do you not agree that when using most if not all the bags your highest quality bag will vary depending on strain, maturity and other factors

It was a mix of indoor and outdoor trim, over 10 strains.


Pressed! I ended up doing 7 runs and decided to mix all of them together, except the 73 from the first run its by itself
