How does pistil growth affect bud sites?

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows or has any information on how does pistil growth directly affects bud growth? If i'm correct, pistils come out to collect pollen to make seeds, but if none is collected or when they come out and have a color change that is not normal, how or does it affect bud growth? Pistils are just part of production of seed???????

It's just part of the reproductive system. You are on the right track, they grow, collect pollen or not, then shrivel up. The THC is concentrated in the calyxes, which is where the hairs grow from. Once the hairs wilt, then calyxes will start to swell. Once the hairs are almost all orange, you should start checking the trichs, as the plant will be done in a couple weeks.

But what if things change at the early stages of flowering? Like when you should have white hairs everywhere, but they come out purple or brown, with no males around? or they die of very early? Does that affect bud growth? As you stated "once hairs wilt, then calyxes will start to swell." So if this happens in week 5, will the bud continue to grow?

The buds will continue to grow. The last couple weeks especially. I think you're reading too much into the hairs.

When I go in the room and look at a plant, I'll see one with white hairs and think, "It's not ready to bother looking at yet", but thats about all I use the hairs for.

I looked at one I thought was nearly finished, and it started growing new calyxes, and new white hairs, guess it got a second wind.

If your seeing hairs turn color and shrink in early flower stages their are many reasons, for example the oils on your hand if you touch one or they were misted and got burned etc, they are very sensitive and will recede. Thus does not effect bud growth imo

I was asking because my outdoor garden had a problem. The hairs all came out brown! Not white, brown. I checked for hermie's. None of them. Did some homework and found that it was because I had to much phosphorus in the soil and it locked out other things (Ca, Mg, Ir, all the minor but important stuff). I thing I have corrected the problem, but I wanted to know if the calyxes will still continue to grow? And that's what brought me to this question.

Is it not an uncommon trait for Sativas to be small budded initially, and receive a bud swell in late flower after the pistils have receded?
I literally have NO main cola at week 6, but mine has the Foxtail trait so its like Cactor and a Cannabis plant had a demented love baby.

It's my first Sat Dom harvest, how long should I let it go?

There's no way to tell, I've never grown an indica..I only grow land races 16-22 weeks or so...Mexican brick can give you a 16 weeker.. most sat doms are hybridized to 11-14 weeks

Imo, site harvesting would be what i went with... But patience Isn't a virtue i posses in spades.
Same rule applies, even if new growth is pre-mature the over all % of amber to cloudy trichs will be your indicator for the chop.
I post a thread with an update on my girls in a sec, but you'll see on mine with the Foxtailing, More and more new budsites just keep sprouting
So some are turning, some are just sprouting their white hairs.
So I'm pinching the ones as they reach maturity, so the over all result will be a final harvest with 75-80% buds mature-
Despite there being new growth popping up every day, most likely till the day I chop her.

Thats what I'm thinking, at first i knew it would be at least 10 week with the look of her at week 5...
But now on week 6 the progress is so slow and steady, I'm thinking in that 12-13 range.
GUHHH! Good thing the stretch is over, 5 feet is about all i can handle indoor with my set up.

With the foxtails, i dont 'need' to let em change color and whatnot, do i? The whole top of mine is white. But since i cant see under the tails i cant tell if its ready under there.
Im gona take top when its ready and let all the bottoms finish. Its a sativa bagseed, goin on week 13, soil, organic. I just let it go natural, noly training was i tied down all the lower branches to allow light in to lower popcorns. Gona try mainline next, cant wait!
A problem is it has minimal leaves, so im afraid it wont finish and swell like i want. It also has ALOT of red hairs, they jus wont shrink away.
Thx for any help, if i get a response from here. If not ill go and make my own thread.

From what I can tell, it's not ready.

The hairs will recede, turning brown. The calyxes will swell. (I dont think you're there yet), the buds will get bigger, then it will stop growing and begin to ripen. The plant will look "done" for about 2 weeks before it's ripe.

Ever ate a green banana? Not good, not ready. For someone who had never seen a ripened banana, s/he might think that banana is ripe. s./he might even like the green banana never having eaten a ripe yellow one. s/he might think that's just how they are. Pot is the exact same way. Just like bananas, pot takes several months to grow to ripeness. You are the green banana grower, just with weed. The bud grows for months, and one day, you're all like, "It's ready!" But it isn't ready. It's a green banana...

Let that banana go another couple weeks, and it turns into something very remarkably different. Pot is the same way. Let it go a couple weeks, get a 50x loupe or scope, and let her ripen. The difference isn't even recognizable.

Curing makes that much difference in the strength of your weed as letting it ripen does.

Hahaha banana bread. You have to let the bananas "cure" before you can do that.

Ok I'm done now.
