Light rail !

I just picked up a Light Rail 5 commercial drive for my Flower Room the other day. I have spent a few hours hanging the rail, motor, 2 hoods, wrapping wires and balancing everything out . After about 8 hours I am close to sorting out the kinks with the wires tracking true on the adjacent cable/pulley system.

The hoods are Dual Raptor 8's with two 1000w Eye hortilux bulbs in each. The spread of the two hoods is 8 feet with 20 inches between each hood end to end.

I opted for the 8 foot rail and added another 4 feet to that. With an optimum grow area of 13' x 10' I have a little room to play with at each end of my grow area, as I'm only using half of the room for flowering at the moment.

I'll get some photos up when the room isn't such a disaster with all the misused zipties and tape...... the old 8" insulated ductwork.... a 3'x3'x3' Soma box I've been playing with .....

Until next time....

The drive system seems to be working well. I had an issue getting the wires to run on a pulley system and track with the hoods without offsetting the balance.

But after a few long hours of just watching the hoods creep back and forth ... it seems ok. I am still looking for a high quality pulley, but the one in there seems to work..001.jpg005.jpg002.jpglight rail 006.jpg :blsmoke:

If you are having problems with your lateral wires and the tracking, find a curtain rail and use it. They work perfectly to keep the right size loops and prevent any problems.

I purchased one many years ago and hung a single 1000 watt from one. Worked great for about 10 months and then things started wearing out and I had to remove it. I loved it while it worked...not trying to be negative here. They've probably come a long way since I tried them. I hope yours works for many years, they're awesome at spreading the light! peace

Time will tell. It's a try it and buy it if you like it deal. Either way, it gives me something new to play with for a while. From what I hear it should serve it's purpose, and if it improves the overall quality of my crop I'm a happy man. But thanks for the input there M n F.

i bought this one. www.agramover.com works like a charm. the rubber wheels did wear out after 2 years. they make a kit to rebuild thats cheap or you can send it back and they fix it for free you just pay for parts and shipping.

I like the rail so far. If I could get three years service it would be worth every bit of time i put into it. I've had it running nonstop for a while.. running 24 hour veg cycle for another week, until I tweak the room a bit.. the temps are at 80*f with 4k of open hoods. the humidity is low, around 18% but I have a Remedy for that. Yeah... things are looking great so far.. stay posted!
