Someone asks this question everyday.....you start counting flowering days when you see the first white pistil on a plant. Then add 2 weeks to the # of flowering days the breeder indicates ( if using breeder seeds, it always takes longer ).

My last grow I started counting the day I flipped the switch. Now these plant had already showed preflowers. So I will say if they are mature start counting the day of the flip. The breeder of this last batch said 8-9 weeks and it finished up in 60-65 days. Another batch of WW I had said 9-10 weeks and they took about 80 days.

I find it's generally a week after I flip the lights. It takes some time for the plants to react to such a light change. Remember though, All the given flowering times are just estimates. There's just too many variables. Keep an eye on the trichs in those time frames, or longer, and you'll be good.

Here is a marijuan plants growth: Germination stage 1-7 days, Seedling stage 1-14 days, Vegation stage 1-2 months, Pre-Flower stage 1-2 weeks , Flower stage 1-3 months then harvest. So once switching to 12/12 you will be in the Pre-flower stage (1-14 days) once you see flowers starting to develope THEN you start the flower stage count down ( a marijuana plant takes 2-2.5 month, generally)(SO if you flower for 70 days you will never go wrong - One Secret about growing)

if its taking longer then the stated time its because....

A> you dont have the same breeder enviroment that the plant was bred in and is aclimatised too.
B> your enviroment is off in general
c> you dont have the pheno that the breeder is using to sell the seed.....e.g if lemon skunk takes 8 weeks according to breder and my pheno takes 12 its not the same pheno they are selling the product on...even selfed s1 seeds will vary in phenos

it takes 3 days to start the flowering process and weeks to undo.......

again no, not just estimates......phenos my friend phenos,..

because they were diff phenos or grown in diff enviros...most likely diff phenos if came from another batch....

breeders start counting from day 1 of 12/12.......if you go to youtubeand watch a greenhouse grow session you can see this, and strangley there plants are finishing all within stated times....from 12/12

the stretch is part of flowering, some plants bulk early some late, but if a strain says it takes 8 weeks you need to find the pheno that does....

If a breeder states 8/9 weeks you are saying add 2 weeks which = 10/11 weeks
then you are also saying do not start counting until pistils show
it could take 2 weeks for pistils to show
this would take the total 12/12 grow time for an 8/9 week strain to 12/13 weeks , this is totally incorrect

the total 12/12 grow time for a strain sold as 8/9 weeks should be roughly 8/9 weeks
as long as the plants are healthy, the variation in time frame will allow for phenotype diversity

you start counting from the first day of 12/12

To each his own. Flowering days should be counted from the date of first pistil. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

to each their own, IM SORRY, but this question is only relevant for new growers that cant veg long enough to see pre-flowers ^^^so i should start counting my flowering days when i see first pistils in VEG? this is dumb anyone with a brain can tell the plant knows IMMEDIATELY when 12/12 beings they start stretching right away and im damn sure thats part of the flowering process so i will always count from the day i flip the lights!

before i flip to 12/12 i give 36hours darkness to help kick dtart the flowering process,
and i begin counting my flowering period from day 1 of 12/12 as this is when the flowering hormones are active.

It goes like this Germination stage 1-7 days, Seedling stage 1-14 days, Vegation stage 2-3 month, Pre-flower stage 1-2 weeks, Flower stage 1-3 months then harvest, many people do not take into consideration of pre-flower stage. Once you SEE flowers starting to develope ,THEN start you flower count down. Generally it take a plant 2 to 2.5 months then harvest

but a mature plant after a good veg period will show pre flowers during the end of veg cycle.
when i flip mine after 4 weeks of veg i already have pre flowers.
