Not until the Chinese find a way to start importing legal services to USA will you see any action by congress....being the self serving, mostly lawyers, f..king hacks that they are.

its really hard and costs a fortune but go to the farmers market for meats and veggies. it looks like its just basically chicken nuggetts at this point but whats next. Its sad the unions and regulations have made it cheaper to send meat to china and back than process it here. I guess people dont want $10 5 piece to support the $15.hr employee so something has to bend somewhere. Me go pee pee in your coke.

Free market in action
Free market ? Is that what we are calling it now ? It seems the other day it was called fair trade, but thats a bad name "fair" and "trade" there's nothing fair about China's toxic toys, dog treats, baby formula, and there views of human rights "None" and now the word trade would seem to imply we sale them some shit they sell us some shit, but there trade deal is not trade at all it's "SUCTS" or Send Us Cheap Toxic Shit.
China is truly the asshole of the world.

to be totally honest, it's not China, or the people of China, it's the Marxist government in China. they established the rules, set up the "corporations" (every one of which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Peoples Revolutionary Army) and now must reap what they sowed for 60 years of Marxist rule.

but i dont think we should accept their grim harvest here, that would be retarded.

Scary thought. Lead filled chickens from China, or steroid filled beaks and feet nuggets approved by the USDA.

Farmer's market as said above is far and away our best choice and it helps the local economy.

Sometimes theres no option...like the lady in the movie who could not find a single microwave oven not made in China so now she doesnt own a microwave. We need more people like her to take a stand and just maybe we could bring manufacturing jobs back to North America. Problem is people want cheap but we end upaying in the long run with job loss and products that last 3 years instead of 12.

The Chinese fish farms are deplorable. The water is grey sewage. They feed them garbage. Mostly tilapia. Due to manpower only 1% gets tested at US ports. 65% of that 1% is turned away. The ports are so busy that the ships leave and head to another port and another port until they sneak their cargo through. What is wrong with the govt?

We tried this in the 70's and 80's with our auto manufacturing and almost destroyed it. I'm all for buying made in the USA, i'll even pay a little more to do so, but there comes a point where it's counter-productive. I try to avoid chains and support local businesses instead and feel i'm doing my part. Like I said though, our auto industry showed us what protectionism can lead to. My Dad was a loyal union man and buy american was preached to me constantly. We even owned a Curtis Mathis. I love my iPad but if I had to pay 1500 for it to keep jobs here, I simply wouldn't own one.

Protectionism isn't the way, I agree. I think it only worsens/delays the inevitable. Instead of forcing industry when we cant compete with foreign labor, we need to focus on the things were good at

China really does play by their own rules though so something MUST be done to rectify this, I just don't know what. The way they manipulate their currency is where I'd start though.

We absolutely have to get back to manufacturing stuff for long term financial health though. The problem with that right now is there is much more labor supply than demand and with our future immigration reform on the horizon that supply will only increase. To have a firm middle class we need a larger demand for labor in this country. I don't know how to get there without manufacturing. Our corporate tax rate is extremely discouraging, what are we 2nd in the world now? This is just another impediment we've placed on our market that other countries don't face.

Immigration reform tackles those that are already here.
guess you subscribe to the "invasion" theory of far right xenophobia

You are right we cannot get to a larger demand for labor without increasing manufacturing
But right now the big guys are over sucking chinese cock and building facilities over their to sell to their market
Even Harley is now building bikes in India

Without border control it's inevitable. We have the 80's to look at as proof.

Here's one that will blow your mind. I'm not a border person. I feel as an Earthling, I should be able to go anywhere I want on Earth as long as I'm not trampling on private property. So for me, I say let them all in.

Knowing I feel this way (let them in, let them stay), yet I still proclaim that there will be an "invasion" as you put it, do you think I'm saying that because of my agenda? When I say this will increase the labor supply at time when we are experiencing a labor glut in this country, is that because of my agenda? You need to get off the team mentality, it will free your mind.

they simply cannot spare the manpower or money to inspect every cargo, there just arent enough unemployed people in america, and the tax rate is simply too low to pay them.

besides, dont you know theres a Drug War going on? they gotta stamp out weed before looking into poison tothpaste or toxic baby formula. it's all about priorities.
