The thing that burns me up is she wasnt even ready. Well I learned an important lesson security is a must when growing in the city. I have a six foot privacy fence and motion detecting security light I also have a servalence camera ran to my TV problem is I wasnt watching it. I have ideas on how to secure them next year. Let me know any outdoor protection methods.op 13 014.jpg

for got to add. most people with large grows. not that I know them mm hmmmm shhhhhh lol . they put a tent in the middle of the field and sleep out at night. but for 1 plant not worth it . but you could set one up and put a light in it all night keep them guessing

Or you could place a few of this, tho if you have a memory like mine it might not be the best idea

You get a big dog or a couple. You can also go straight hood and place empty beer bottles, beer/soda cans laying around your plants. Pretty hard to spot them and not kick them at night. Ghetto alarm but works like a charm. Wind chime like.

This won't stop anyone but it helps you figure out who did it.
get some of those motion sensor hunting cameras that can take up to 400pictures before you need to reload the pictures on a computer
also they have motion sensor video cameras for birdwatchers

That's a good one, similar to the cops leaving an empty patrol car in bad neighborhoods...only in reverse.:-P
lol, i don't live in the hood, but pretty much suburbia, and on busy roads, cops always leave an empty cop car to reduce speeders...
i hate slamming on the brakes and slowing from 110 only to discover it was an empty cop car.. :(

j/k of course, i drive pretty slow around town as not every parked cruiser is empty.. :(

Get some motion/heat sensors that have a base station with an alert mode. And most important don't leave your plants alone when they start flowering. Always have someone home.

Haha!, that happened to me yesterday...only I was speeding with a pumpkin pie on the passenger seat.

Guess what happened when I slammed on the brakes?.

Unless you have a large budget there isn't a lot you can do, but basics. Even with a large budget unless you move some where more remote you are going to be a target sadly.

Secure your fence.
Install locks on fencing.
You want a dog that will alert, small dogs are better at this. Large dogs are more intimidating.
Restrict Access As Best As posssible.
Carport
Security Lights

Edit: Even with legalized, well technically "medical" cannabis it is still a valuable crop to steal. Until value plummets under $100 a kilo your basically leaving money unsecured in your garden.

I always hesitate to post this, but if you don't care about the possibility of being sued...2 1/2" drywall screws make a real nasty surprise for rippers:

claymore mines with trip wires, would work, but you have to save some for the zombie apocalypse. On second thought probably not a good idea since they would blow up your plant too, scratch that off the list

Definitely illegal and the number required would make it hard to argue it was negligence and not a bobby trap sadly.

On a legal note pepper spray grenades or tear gas would work a treat and because it does injure should be legal.
