Plants Refusing to be Sexual - No balls, no vag

Hey everyone,

Growing some Maui Wowie from seed as my first grow. So far so good, but it's always been my understanding that when you flip to 12/12, you should see SOME kind of evidence of flowering. It's been 11 days since I switched and changed lighting to 2700k. My closet is completely lightleak-free.

I have seen a lot of new veg growth toward the bottoms, but nothing that would indicate flowering. Is it possible I didn't veg long enough?

Here are some pic of the plants:

Thanks in advance!

How old is the plant from sprout? Plants won't show sex until they reach maturity no matter how long they've been on 12/12. Most strains reach maturity around 30 days from sprout :) patients is a virtue

That's likely the problem. I gave them about 3 weeks of veg because of a last minute decision to move out of my current apartment. Will have to remember that for my second grow =\

Should I just leave them in 12/12 until they mature, or go back to 18/6? Thanks.

Personal preference, if room allows and you want a bigger plant you can reveg, but gotta remember playing with the light schedule will stress/stunt your plant :D

if you veg them for only 3 weeks they have 6-8 nodes be 8-10 inch or whatever they still take another 3 weeks to get buds
if you veg for 5 weeks they will most likely preflower and have little buds in 10-14 days
so overall there is not much advantage if any vegging for 3 weeks, you might save 1 week overall
but you end up with a smaller plant

peace

If it's really maui wowwie, it's Sativa dominant and might take a while to show....asa well as take a looooong time to flower. My hats off for trying a great one, but i'd suggest a shorter flower period strain as a learning tool. long flowering sats are my favorite but tend to be more finicky IME.

As a first timer, this is where I got confused. I saw "flower period 8-10 weeks" on the seed bank site. Being new to this, I didn't realize that doesn't include the veg period or the increased time needed for sativa maturity =\ Worse comes to worst, I can hand the plants off to my brother to finish while I move out of state to another apartment.

Thanks for the replies!

A simple indication that your plant isn't ready to "get sexual" is that the nodes are still symmetrical.

That plant does look heavy on the sativa. Looks healthy, just needs some time.

i didn't even look at the pics before. good point about the symmetry, she's still a baby. And she looks healthy too. I'm curious what seed bank sold them to you.
I hate to break it to you but if it's real MW and not a cross you are looking at a 12 week flowering strain, minimum. that's after sexing.

mjseedscanada.com was the bank. Prices are pretty good, and I think the MW is on sale right now. 12 week flowering...I'm definitely going to need to find them a temporary second home. Glad I've got 10 more seeds to play with once settled in.
