Cloning a late flowering plant

I recently finished by grow(was only 1 female plant) and I don't want to have to regrow a plant from a seed, so I decided to try to clone a clipping off my mother plant when she was in her 8th week of flowering, it's been about 4 days and the clipping seems sturdy, but the buds on it turned a deep brown and look like they're rotting. Is this normal when cloning a flowering plant? Any tips? thank you

I'm well aware I should have cut them during veg state, but I only have 1 plant and my two clones I cut from veg state died 2 weeks ago in a temp accident

Bunny,
I've done reveg clones like you cut...but not so far into flowering. So to answer your question...no, they actually kept the bud alive and even after they had roots, the little popcorn bud with white hairs was still there.

But keep watching it. It may make it. It'll take longer and if it yellows too much, you can foliar feed it to keep it going.
