Curing Buds: glass or plastic

I found some nice containers in Walmart with lock tops, 64 ozs, and shatter-proof. They also had some glass ones, some with screw-on tops 64 ozs. Will the clear plastic ones work as well as the glass ones for storing the buds? What about the metal screw-on tops on the glass containers? Go with glass, you will be glad you did, if you do plastic it will always be in the back of your mind. I personally have no problem with plastic, I have had shit that was stored in plastic and some will say plastic can feck up the taste, I never noticed.

If your curing small amounts go buy some antique mason jars with the glass lids that have the metal snaps that go across the top, green ones are my favorite! A quart one will hold about 2 1/2 ounces if I remember correctly.

oh! and you can also still get the rubber seals for those old glass ones.. the rubber sits on the outside and the glass goes over the top

Mold seems to grow faster in plastic bags, Its not completely sealed off. Stuff is still allowed to permeate through even if its slowly. Thc because of its composition sticks to it easily...you know the plastic smell or taste of water or just old plastic, it can contribute to an off smell as well, more probable though is terpenes will escape simply making your bud not quite as stanky or tasty..not to mention you can't collect kief or broken trichs on the bottom of the jar

Also some of the flavorful compounds in your bud can actually dissolve plastic...this would only apply to hash oil..just throwing it out there..

IMO the problem has less to do with taste (assuming it's food grade) and everything to do with the static charge stripping the trichs off your bud.

Stick with glass. Wide mouth mason works great, and you can get a doohickey that allows you to pump out air to help jeep it fresh. Just keep it in the dark to preserve thc.

maybe if you have some $1000 an ounce colas, hand trimmed with white gloves and never layed down type shit, glass jars would be a nice selling feature.

The amount of trichs lost due to static or anything else is not worth the one time you drop a jar and spend a week digging glass out of your feet.

assuming you arent using the dollar store cheapo plastic that smells like china you dont lose any smell or taste from plastic.

I have plastic containers ive used over and over and they have the same amount of "stripped trichs" as the glass containers. Only difference is the plastic ones are harder to clean. but since I rearely clean them I dont really care.

yeah i agree, as long as you can get a air tight seal go with whatever your more comfortable with. i personally like glass jars as you can get a dozen quart jars with lids and seals for 8$..

never ever transport good homegrown in a bag!!! can smell that shit from a mile away. 1/2 pint jars or baby food jars are great for this...no smell at all!!

Even a Coke tastes better in a glass. They don't sell beer in plastic bottles....

For storage? Glass all the way. For Curing? Glass all the way. Pint jars are PERFECT, if a jar develops mold you don't have to throw it all away, just a small amount.

For taking some with you? Plastic with an air tight seal.
The commit lozenge (stop smoking aid) containers are perfect for small amounts and don't raise suspicion.

glass bottle coke is only better because it comes from south of the border and uses real sugar. has nothing to do with the bottle. Although I do agree that for liquids glass is better. for weed rubbermaid tupperware works great.

try both and see which one you like better...long as they are both air tight it cant hurt..i prefer glass but when you end up with a couple lbs buying jars could turn into a hassle and early into curing you might have alot of jars to burp...far as the bud goes i've cured* in glass and plastic and if there was a difference i was to high to notice

Glass jars like Mason jars are tits for drying/curing bud. Just as good are the jars Ragu spaghetti sauce comes in. They have a rubber seal in the lid that gets the job done. BigSteve.

I will agree that plastic or glass will do.If your doing like a pound or less then go with glass.Buds look better through glass.lol
When i harvest my outdoor grows i use the tubs from walmart with the locks on the sides.

That is a whole nuther argument, my wife prefers cans and I will only drink out of bottles. And the coke with real sugar is even better,
