The top portion of plant looks ready. The bottom half doesnt look quite there. Now a growth spurt is making lots of new growth woth almost clumps of new white pistils. Can i chop top half first? Or what would yall do?20131125_185109-1.jpg

Yeah it shouldn't be a problem to chop the top buds now if their trichomes are where you want them. The lower buds prolly wont grow any bigger at that point but they should certainly continue to mature.

Nice looking flowers ya got there!

Just like a tomato plant, some tomatoes are green, while others are ripe to pick...a lovely red color. So, instead of cutting down the whole tomato plant, you pick tomatoes off as they ripen. I imagine the same should apply for Cannabis too! You can even compare the highs/effects of different buds taken at different times and zero-in on the perfect time(s) to harvest for the desired effect!

Cutting the upper growth and flowering the remaining growth for 4 weeks can double your yield. Of course it will vary depending on how much you trimmed the lower half of the plant, strain etc.

Patience.... I still see new hairs popping out of that nice cola....
-------
I say you have some time left also on the top cola... Looks nice now....
do you think if you left it it would get bigger or smaller?
You make the call, you have been watching your plant for weeks now...
Every day... does it get bigger, or smaller?
------------
Why not just take a small sample bud-and try her?
Take one from about 6-8" down from the top....
Good Luck man...

solid advice so far.

if in doubt, cut one bud and try it after it's ready. if it's any good, you know the rest had those extra days to finish and will also be good.

harvesting half the plant is something i have done, those lower buds always start to look a lot better real quick.

and nice buds too.
