My bet is the toxins generated by the mold could also be extracted. I think its not a good idea.

That was my first thought as well. Maybe there's a certain filter or process I dunno. Last attempt to make something off it and not lose out a few hundo.

Assuming the mold is Botrytis, it does not leave an aflatoxin, so in theory the bud could be salvaged with BHO..

Cut away and destroy the really bad parts...
After extraction, the oil should then be winterized, and passed through a .02 micron syringe to remove dead spores.

If words like just throw on a 0.2 syringe filter after winterizing sound strange to you, tell your buddy no dice as your not willing to take responsibility for the tek required to pull the trichomes from the crypt cuzz failure to do so is bordering on intent-full harm now that you've been educated. I'm going to go ahead and add carbon filtration which will also fuck with your yield but can stop it tasting of hay.

Removing mold is more of a tek challenge for those with too much gear sitting around and skill out the wazoo when it comes to sampling till clean. At the end you can achieve a tasteless high, if you can get it there you can edibles it. Otherwise your looking at foot cream + all those steps.

Tek tip if you don't care and your gunna run it anyways. Dry that bud to a bloody crisp and winnow as much cobweb out as you can with a blowdryer set to cold. Remember your concentrating mold all the way along and a few minutes in the wind can cut your problem in half.

To add to blowing the shit away...

There are little attachments that can be used with a Shop-Vac..

This can suck away some of the nasty that's in the nooks and crannies.

Depends on what kind of mold, as they aren't all created equal and some produce aflatoxins, that can't be easily removed.

Molds like Powdery Mildew and Botrytis, which grow on living tissue, don't produce known aflatoxins, though some folks can have a Type 1 allergic reaction to their spores and filaments.

Molds like Aspergillus, which compost dead tissue, do produce aflatoxins, which attack the central nervous system and our livers. If the mold grew from poor drying and storing practices, that is most likely what it is, and you should examine with a microscope before proceeding. For some reason, the Botrytis picture won't load, but here is the Aspergillus and PM pictures.

I know allot about powdery mildew from my squashes and using horsetail tea prep, but what is that stuff that comes from spider mites? I could never tell where it ends and "hay" molds begin.

The spotted leaves, web filaments and feces are the three signs that I'm most familiar with. Sometimes the filaments have interconnecting filaments, and form a cannopy.

You can illuminate it with a black light and the Aspergillus will glow right?

You don't need fancy lab equipment. All you need to do is check it with a black light, if no glow then dissolve your BHO in some alcohol and run it through syringe filters.
