cn - it's a simple question..for me, if i work 40 hours a week i should be able to have those 4 basic needs met..agreed?
1) It is dishonest to conflate healthcare with insurance.

2) No. If you work 40 hours a week at a job that doesn't pay enough to get those four basics at local market prices, one is under a simple compulsion to do one or both of two things:
a) move
b) earn privilege to a higher-paying position.

I reject the idea that working 40 hours automatically entitles one to a comfortable lifestyle. Especially in a labor-saturated marketplace, there isn't enough to go around. It's musical chairs, and the plums should go to those who show the combination of ability and ambition to secure them. A welfare-centric culture subverts this by sweeping the real goad of personal financial failure under the rug. My opinion.

I admit I'm wrong often. I generally learn from my mistakes. Something I am clearly not doing by holding conversations with people like you.
True, you obviously are often wrong. Yet you remain so self-righteous.

Dipshit, all the answers from the right so far have been about having women go make the man a sandwich. You defend this. That is sexist.
Your attitudes to women, as displayed on this forum have been on par thus far. If sky wants to ask a sexist question, then she will get a sexist answer. There was no harm in naming the thread "If You Work A 40-Hour Work Week.." as opposed to its current title. I was raised with two older sisters - that speaks for itself.

Do we need to get back to the fact we know your history with pedophilia? Seriously dude. Let's go not back to that again.
Seriously dude when you've got nothing else you bring it on out. Can't wait until you morons decide sexism is the new racism and go on your liberal hysteria spree :dunce:

This is an honest answer for I believe cannabineer firmly believes. And in most parts I agree.

Where I would have phrased this is, Do you deserve a home, etc if you work 40+ hours a week. I think a resoundingly different response would have been garnered.

you're on very shaky ground dude what with NPD an all...
i was aping replies that red reverts to all the time.

..................LOL....................

really? and not knowing of my background. sheesh.
i assume you can help me with the radiator/cooling system of my early model infiniti (fancy nissan). i refuse to buy a $25 tool just to reach one single bolt on my thermostat connection. the intelligent engineers put a belt tightening/loosening bolt right in front of the third bolt, and it slow leaks.

can you pencil me in for later this week?

Again you pull out of your ass that i'm a low leveled mechanic with little of no knowledge of your "fancy nissan".. with nothing to back it up? why? Does it make you feel better as a man or something? Do you realize how that made you look?

I think i'll end it at that. Gave my answer to this thread and saw what kind of bullshit that can stem from nothing If you judge and bitch hard enough.

she didn't get a rise, I answered her question honestly with the implication being regardless of gender, working will not entitle you to any of the points listed, but rather the only expectation one should have is remuneration based on skill and experience. Those two points should be the merit upon which ANY individual is employed [skill/experience] - the 3 month probation is to determine suitability.

i don't think you're low level, and even if you were i'd pay you royally. all you'd have to do is loosen three bolts on the upper radiator hose, remove the thermostat gasket and scrape/clean both connecting ends, replace the thermostat gasket, and retighten the three bolts on the upper radiator hose.

you'll need a fancy type of wrench to get around the belt tightening bolt and tighten the third bolt on the upper radiator hose, but i assume that any mechanic worth his salt has this tool on hand.

i paid the last guy $40 for this 8 minute job, as i am a firm believer in the 1 hour minimum for mechanics. they are the salt of the earth, usually.

sometimes they are bitter, know it all cranks.

Supply and demand enter the equation somewhere.

I am curious to know where we disagree.

Excuse my interruption, but the going shop rate around here is $CDN75/hr min.
You're paying ~53% of the hourly rate.
Or do you count the other 47% as your "contracting fee"?
...you shrewd bastard!

one of my previous jobs was contracting canadian mechanics to repair cheap chinese dirtbikes that our company sold at canadian tire.

there are plenty of mechanics who will work for $40 an hour.

So do you file a separate set of forms for your "company" ;) ?
And then pick your personal income, for a separate filing, out of the leftovers?

Then again, I suppose most of your transactions are "tax-free" in that you don't collect receipts or issue bills of sale; therefore, you are missing out on potential deductions.
Split income?
Investment Income?

What sort of tax options have been at your disposal over the last few years?
