well i guess the THEORY is that it helps produce more res/trichs right at the end. I dunno. I do it lol...
I'm not convinced on that but if i had the space i would put 1 in the dark and leave the other :)
I do know you are supposed to cut them down after the dark period though so that there is less starch in the plant so with my timing they will prob get 20hrs of dark before chop.

I have done both. It didn't seem to make much of a difference in taste or effect....except letting the plant wilt in the dark made it more of a pain in the ass to chop down and clean. You still have to hang dry anyway. Letting the plant sit like that just looked like an invitation to bacteria, nats, and the fumes from the roots dying.

I just cut and hang dry. Old ways sometimes are still the best ways.

Plants look mouthwatering. :weed:

Just started flowering 2 vortex and 1 nepalese landstrain (massive training and lst work).

You're not gonna believe this ........ i got bud rot AGAIN!!!! aarrgghhhhh

Went to check on them tonight and pulled them out of the cupboard for a good look and i noticed a couple of tops seemed really dry and crispy, i'm sure they weren't like that a few days ago but maybe they were getting there and i missed it :( anyway i cut one off thinking to quick dry it for a test smoke and saw the grey mould .. my heart sank.

I've cut the top 3" from 5 tops tonight and flushed them down the toilet but all the others seem ok. They are getting chopped in a couple of days anyway so hopefully no more will be affected.

When i get home later i'll post some pics :(

oh bro, that really sucks. is this a strain related issue or environmental problem?
I think its a bit of both, i have temps under control and enough circulation but the humidity spike after lights out is still hitting 60-65%
The problem is that my cupboard is in an outdoor lock-up that other people have access to ( not to the space where my cupboard is obviously :) ) which is basically some converted stables so its not really insulated enough to keep the surrounding air at peak temps/humidity without someone asking whats going on. Also the buds get very dense with this strain so the smallest amount of excess humidity will stay trapped for a good few hours until lights come on and temps rise. This is the last run with this strain so we'll see what the ak48 is like as thats the next one i'm gonna try but i may have to make a few mods to the cupboard too, just gotta keep it stealthy.

The saucer is 9" across.

I found a tiny bit of white mold in the middle of a few cheesequake main colas from my last grow. It sucks when it happens, I trimmed what I could and had to dry them a touch longer. Thats the trouble when you get those chunky, compact, juicy colas...its awesome, but it sucks too when you get mold. Actually I think most mold starts during the 2 week flush honesty, when she is at her weakest...just a theory.

Best thing to do is quarantine them in their own jar after you have dried them more. I actually throw a little rice in the jar sometimes if the buds are past the point of being to dry to air dry anymore. Just remember to toss the rice out after a few days. Better than using a slice of bread.

Well the light went off tonight and i unplugged the timer, they will be chopped tomorrow after work so they will have had about 24hrs dark.

Here's how they looked tonight at 65 days from flipping the light, i think i got pics of most of the top colas and a couple of trich shots :bigjoint:

No but i grew the mum on my 1st time (this is my 2nd grow) so i know its a good smoke although i had to chop her early due to bad bud rot, these are her clones.
The white tops are where they got a bit light bleached but i kinda like it :weed:

Yeah it's winter here in the UK, it's pretty mild though but very damp, winter temps for us are usually around 5c give or take a couple of degrees. No chance of a white christmas just a wet one :(
