There are no African Americans alive today whose grandparents were slaves. Any African American born in this country today has a decided leg up off of anyone who just stepped off a boat from china or India, or anyone who just swam across the Rio Grande. Yet those immigrants seem to out-perform African Americans.
I wouldnt compare an immigrant to a slave, but we have no slaves.

yeah, that legacy of institutionalized racism that has left them living in de facto segregation into lower SES neighborhoods with poorer schools, less banks, less grocery stores, more crime, and less opportunity really is a leg up.

Oriental refers to Eastern Asia such as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong etc, I don't think Indonesia is included.
Asia refers to the entire Aisan Continent including Oriental countries and west Asia such as India, Pakistan and south asian countries such as Philipines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore etc.
Oriental is not an offensive word at all

Some of these posters say the stupidest things don't they, rugs are oriental not people, wtf? How many Americans behave this way, like they in school, are your government officials like this, because that would explain a lot? No offence to Americans in anyway, I just find some of these people very very strange, maybe it's a culture thing. Although I am disapopinted in this site, I was hoping to have some decent conversation and get different perspectives, try and learn things about other nations and people, without being called a racist and that my mother was a whore and I don't know how many other silly little insults. wow, I didn't know stoners were like this.

Once you get past UncleBuck, Cheezy, see4, abandonconflict and a couple more of the dumb progressives, there are some lefties on here that are pretty intelligent and mainly stick to the issues.

First off... people don't just step off the boat and become citizens. It costs months of your time and thousands of dollars. So yeah... they better be damn fine people with bright prospects if they are gonna go through all that.
Secondly, I imagine those LEGAL immigrants do alot better than the majority of people in our country do because they place high VALUE on the chance at success in america.
