I have a hard time believing that if I happened to be in a car that was stopped by the police I could/would be charged because somebody else had a gun and ran. Did you know they had an illegal weapon? What kind of losers need to carry illegal weapons anyway? When I lived in Arizona obtaining a weapon legally was pretty damn easy so what is the problem? Spend as much as you possibly can. Trust me I just went through this shit, you don't want to go cheap with a lawyer. Mine Got 3 Felonies and a misdemeanor tossed and I plead guilty to one misdemeanor with a deferred judgement and 1 year probation, clean record too only LEO can see my arrest.

You can usually get a free consultation and will have to pay before any service is rendered. Best not to think cheap in this matter, get the best you can afford and be sure they have a lot of experience in the jurisdiction as that makes a big difference.

Have you talked to them since it happened? THEY should eb paying for your attorney, and not some cheapo. You want a good attorney. If they aren;t willing to pay for it, and they put the charges on you, hell yes, feel free to give them up.
