MD914, stupid question if I may, after germinating the seed/bean and popping it into the soil do you put a light onto the soil. My first germination I did I left them outside to sprout so I haven't tried to get them to sprout indoors yet.

Drop a couple 60w Fluorescent CFLs on 'em. Seedlings don't need much light at all.

Yeah...I put the light (cfl) right over top as close as I reasonably can...I don't want her to come out stretching for the light :)

Heyyyyy Pinworm how ya doing? :) Lol...I just have a single bulb over mine...I'll add more as she grows...then put her under the big light :) Seems to me they don't really need more than that...

Couple/ three inches is fine for now, but try to keep it directly above, or if you can't, rotate the pot every couple hours.
At the small stage like that, you can almost watch it move and grow.
If you're off center, you'll come back in a few hours and it will be growing towards the light.

I bid you greetings and salutations, my female-dude. Yea, one bulb should do 'er fine. They don't need much when they're youngsters. After a week or so of rooting, I switch to MH. My "go-to" for veg.

Am I right in assuming the more light the quicker they grow, it's strange because I have done quite a bit of reading and I can't figure this out. Not seedlings but plant's themselves? I am also shy to ask stupid questions sometimes, hehe. But I feel welcome here so I am not that shy to ask. You can laugh at me I don't mind, really I don't.

The only stupid questions are the ones that aren't asked that have bad results...:)
The more light you can give them WHILE controlling your temps the better...IMO they go hand in hand...

Not necessarily quicker, but the TYPE of light you provide will affect speed of growth, meaning HPS or MH will run circles around CFL's for flowering, and under same feed/ soil/ temp and PH conditions with 2 identical plants, 1 under CFL and the other under HPS, you'll feel a diff. in bud size and density, but when vegging the first couple weeks or for a seedling, 40-60w of CFL is plenty IMO.

Ok, I am thinking of going over to a cool tube when I can afford it, I have to buy everything so it's pretty expensive. So this info is good thanks mate. Was thinking of going 400w because I use a tent and the climate here is hot, it's almost 30c (around 90f) outside today, so I have to watch the temps.

Do you run your lights on at night?
I do that with my CFL's during Summer to keep temps down, and during Winter to keep temps up in my 2x2 space.
Don't knock the CFL's until ya try 'em, LOL.
I got 2 3/4 oz. dried and cured last Winter from ONE plant with 30 days veg, basically with only 98w until the last month and half when I bumped it up to 305w.
