okie i have a small rectangle container filled with nutrient water solution and i have a sponge that i cut a + shape half way into the sponge so that u can see the inside by pullin it open and placed a seed inside then put a rubber band around the top holding it from letting any light to the seed then i put the sponge into the middle of the container into the water half sumerged and half not also have a air stone in the water to provide O2 to the roots when they start growing outta the sponge i also set up 2 like 3 foot floursant lighting figures and two 27 watt energy efficent spiral lightbulbs all shinin on it the lights are roughly 4 inches from the plant the sponge is not soaked just damp water wize as the sponge drys out it draws more water into the sponge given it okie water i have a fan next to the plant gently blowin on it i have my lighting schedule at 20 light 4 dark and there are 2 round leaves and 2 smaller leaves forming on the sides i also have club soda in a spray bottle and vingar and baking soda i spray vry little club soda on the leaves with a fine mist to give the plant co2 and then i put a small container of baking soda and vingar near it givin off co gass then afterward i remove the container i have been doing so for about 4days in the sponge and its not looking bad other then there is a bit of yellow ness on the outside edge of the two rounded leaves and the two smaller ones forming are completely green their isnt much yellow tho all im wondering is yes im not rich and no i dont wanna do it another way all im wanting to know is if its possible to grow using a sponge as a medium instead of say rock sponge or other various soiless mixtures
and the yellow i see i figured waz due to lack of co2 sense i hadnt used anything till just now and if theres anything u could add to help my plant whether it be lighting or whatever

plz tell me what kind of lighting possibly use a example by givin a url thanks i appreciate all critizim

Didnt you say that its growing? I think you answered your own question. I have no clue about the yellowing it could ba a million things. If you are on a tight budget stick with the light you have. It wont produce all that much but it will be worth smoking.

not real worried about growin buds moreso im just growin bag seed to get the hang of growin in general i figure if i can do it with my ghetto set up when i get something nicer which im workin on ill be able to do it with ease my plants ^.^ just got a electric timer too for 6bux ftw! glad someone has posted to this subject considering im vry curious about using sponge being as tho aero garden uses them and i wouldnt see why it shouldnt work

3 foot flows? I though they were generally 2/4/8... Anyways, that should be more than enough light for a couple plants. The sponge idea is definitely interesting, might have to try that myself.

well people say the aero garden is awesome for clones and vegatative other then the lighting specs are normally to low and not tall enough but as for the hydroponics on it they use sponges no different from yellow fake ones cept they are gray so i figure itll do fine just curious if anyone else had known anything about it ive searched around but with little to no results other then hearing to germinate with them

well ive been adding co2 to the leaves and o2 to the roots recently and the yellow seems to be fading into a lighter green turnin back to its healthy color
however its still going kinda slow cuz i did replant it once any ideas on anything i didnt mention to help it grow faster

Maybe mix in very small amounts of sugar or molasses with the water, might grow abit faster with extra energy.

well ive heard they cause no ph fluxuations in the few aero garden discussions ive read and as for pores why not if they can grow threw soil and rockmoss and sponge rock and the aero garden uses the same technique to grow other seeds i wouldnt see why not its day 4 and the plant ish a little bit bigger

LOL. Photosynthesis produces sugars which is what the plants use for energy. Molasses and sugar is well, erm, sugar. So it helps. Just like a tablespoon per gallon of water or something I think is enough.

consider i havnt grown and had a plant living ever... for more then say a week... so... im not saying i plant and kill shit its just i normally plant nothing and when i do i kill it lolz as for sugar thanks for the tip um im using a nutrient i got from a store that u add to water and im using the lowest amount then cut that in half just to be safe and after seeing what people say they get after a week im thinkin gawd this is like... not right but its not dying either so its like hrm... im assuming if i mix a gallon jug with a table spoon of sugar along with say the normal minor dosage together then add it to my plant it should do better i hope itll grow faster im a impatient guy

the plant took way to long to germinate to begin with originally it waz outside good dirt growin took about 2 weeks to see it sprout after that i took it in the house but noticed the dirt had bugs in it so i carefully took the plant away from the dirt not harmin the roots cleaning all the dirt away
added it to the sponge threw the cut i mentioned and tada along with low nutrients i used considering i know u can over do them started low and for 4 days its been green and healthy looking sense i transplanted it it had no leaves except the first 2 round ones but when i planted it in the sponge it grew two tiny pointy leaves i waz like alright! not dying go go go! the next 2 days i noticed it got a little bit bigger and i mean not vry much bigger but i noticed it waz slightly bigger now for the lighting i should be fine considering im using the two 3-4 ft floursent and 2 cfl i think u call em sprial ones and i keep the lighting about 2-3 inches or so away from the plants
20 light 4 dark lighting schedule last night luckily i got a electric timer and hooked dat thing up and it works like a charmmm considering my sleep schedule doesnt follow so well considering my sleep ish suckish anyways

originally i stated that the small edge not much waz a bit yellow the light bulb isnt the type to get hot enough to burn the plant but im wondering if its cuz of the lack of nutrients ive been using or perhaps something else im not real sure what to make of it ill try to put a picture or two up soon but i dunno might not be able to

i can always try to get more of anything i need but problem is i dunno what to do ive been givin it a little co2 spray about 3 times or so a day and i have a bit of baking soda and vingar i did i do little bit every so often and the fan i have i know is way bigger then i need but its not blowing super hard on it but other then sugar and nutrient is there anything else i may consider and i know im rabbling on and on but no ones answering to this thread vry often so im trying to get as much imput as possble

Yeah, well guess I was like the only one that didnt sleep through middle school biology lol... Try half a tablespoon first to be safe. Make sure the sugar is well diluted in the water too.

Did you just bury it to germinate, cause if thats the case thats probably why it took so long. Just wrap the seed in a paper towel, and stick in a jar with like 1/4 an inch of water, so the towel constantly wicks up more water. Keep in a place like 75-80 degrees. Within a few days they usually germinate and start growing their root, so just put them in like 1/4 an inch of dirt and 2-3 days later they will have sprouted.

You can just use 24/0 so you dont have to worry about not turning lights on/off. My plants seem to like the extra light.

How many nodes does it have on it? If its like 5+ (dont count the seedling leaves), you can top it, which will force it to get real bushy fast. Other than that, dont really know how to speed the growth up.

my plant ish vry small its basically not even a plant yet its got 2 round leaves that started it the ones that will eventually fall off and it also has 2 pointy leaves the ^.^ but whats funny is most video timelapses ive watched it gets like a few inches tall before i notice the leaves on theirs coming the 2nd set but for mine its like a half in tall mabye a inch with 4 leaves vry small but none the less
it has 4 lolz if i try to trim it atm it would just be dead lolz as for the sponge it doesnt seem too damp its fairly perfect id say but yeah only 2 non seedling leaves are on it and they are half the size of the seedlings leaves atm im going to try the sugar and up the nutrient a little bit too and see what happens as for time i have my timer set for now 20/4 i dont think i should change it but i may consider doing so if itll help

yeah man thats rly awesome i read everything about growing but sense im doing things differently i wondered what others thought also
the whole 2 inch kept to plant so that it doesnt strech out
and become weak
but shorter bushier better ive also heard if u cut the bottom leaves off and leave the top fan leaves ull get more bud about a ounce more if u do not sure how true that is but it makes sense also ive heard if u just cut the buds off it should grow more but keep getting smaller each time u do it

if u go to youtube and search how to grow green theres a guy who paints him self green and does a 9 video tutorial almost flawless that really helped me learn i give him major props!

i also mixed the gallon jug with root growth formula vry vry little but some also nutrients and also i took bout a table spoon micro waved a small glass of good water with it in it and melted that sugar down
then added to to the rest of the water and shook and added it to the plant just a few mins ago
