I've done all three 18/6, 20/4, 24/0. My plants seem to do best under 20/4, as does saving 4 hours of electricity. Its so minimal of a difference, I don't think it will matter. Could be a fun little exercise with some clones.
You can't beat nature and rush things. You're bound to trip up. The plant will do its thing, just give it a good environment and start with good genetics.
For the record, depending on the medium and fertilizer, you can start fertilizing at seedling stage. I've been using a small amount of Jacks after the first true set of leaves. When I did a side by side with some seedlings I noticed a tad quicker growth. By week three, it was noticeable. Using 60/40 FF perlite
