A person should always be prepared to throw down, not looking for a chance. You should protect your self. even more you should protect your family. I would even go as far as to say you should protect the ones that can not protect them selves. Training in a dojo is probably a good thing. I say throw down, just remember that your first couple times the adrenalin may be overwhelming to the point of blackout for some. If the fight or flight response is channeled it can be good.

I've never been bullied... But i can't stand watching anyone being bullied. Back when i was in school these 2 kids pinned down this 1 kid and were holding up his shirt saying how fat he was and shit, I just completely lost it and charged them with a baseball bat and started beating them off of the kid, I think that's the first time I ever had a panic attack. Watching videos of police brutality pisses me off so much, if I were to witness it in person I think i'd lose my shit again.

In 7th grade this kid tried to trip me in class, gave a little chuckle as he was doing it. I turned around and stood right in front of his desk, he stood up and I sat him back down quick with a crazed look in my eye. Never got messed with again. I wish I would have punched him.

I picked on the wrong kid in middle school once. I swear his body was built like a grown ass man but hidden under some nerdy clothes. He pushed me up against the lockers with the a force amd quickness that was breath taking. I made a point to be his friend the next class year. I never really picked on anyone after that and ended up becoming one of the cool seniors that helped kids out here and there.

Find the nearest Brazillian Jiu Jitsu acadamey and go train. Easily the most useful Martial Art you can ever learn. Being able to defend yourself against almost anyone is one of the best feelings ever.
Some nasty stuff right there, there really is no defense against close combat. By the time your target realizes what's about to happen, it's too late to even pull a weapon.

Sounds like what happened to me in highschool, except I was the other kid. Working on the farm made me stronger than I looked.

Yep. I helped on a farm during summers my junior and senior hs years. Bucking bales and it makes for a solid core and brute upper body especially shoulders. I played football and going back to two a days was light work for me. LoL

Honestly, just a basic understanding of BJJ will exponential improve your chances in any self defense situation.

I got picked on a lot in elementary/middle. Too white for the black kids and well, black, so the odd accepting white friend here and there.
I was THE steve urkle of my class. Great at math and science, but too nice for my own good and twiggy.
Hahahaha its so funny to see martial arts mentioned on this page, I'd been practicing akido along with gymnastics sice I was 5 or six.

My first week of highschool I got challeneged to a fight by a lacrose/tennis player. He called my gf a bitch (to this day still the sweetest girl I've ever known, her father dissowned her for associating with me and had never even met me) and said he could kick the shit out of me bc I was a freshman taking calc. This news spread around my small hick highschool like wildfire, by the time we were supppsed to fight at the local soccer field there were 60 or so people there, some video taping. I was so nervous, no one there was rooting for me except my gf, her little sister, and my 1 verrry short and also nerdy asain friend. Looking back now it was like a bad 80s movie or the karate kid lol. Anyways the fight starts, we"re trading punches, he goes for a hay maker, and I land the only roundhouse I will probably ever land in my life, KO. Lol everyone is dead silent, I just kinda look around at everyone's blank faces. Everyone showed me way more respect after that day, I gained a massive amount of confidence, joined the track team, started smoking pot and actually eating lol. And the rest is history
