Global Warming or Over Population - Earths Biggest Threat?

So folks, what are your thoughts on what is the larger threat to the health of our planets ecosystem: Global Warming or Over Population?

It could be said that one is merely a symptom of the other.

In democratic nations this is not usually a PC topic but I am not talking solutions, instead I'm directing attention to the real issues. Shall we not entertain any genocidal or eugenic solutions please.

I think over population is the biggest threat. Look at all the natural resources that get destroyed by the population moving into previously unpopulated areas.
Not to mention the resources being destroyed to supply the growth. Ex: deforestation of the rain forrests.

The good news is that it will solve both global warming and overpopulation at the same time!!

They are a little harder to get but resources are infinite. Even in our own solar system we could not begin to use all the material that is out there.

We are already discussing the practical applications of asteroid mining.

I worry more about enough new jobs to employee all the collage grads for the next few years..The kind of jobs these kids need are lacking, so eventually we have over educated kids having to settle for flipping burgers..Over population is job related in my opinion, if there aren't enough jobs we are over populated and it will not end well...America is not really over populated compared to some other countries but with the lack of good jobs it might as well be...

I guess I got side tracked..the planet is fine where I am...

I agree that the health of our job market / economy is linked to overpopulation for sure.

nobody is seriously trying to mine anything off any asteroid.

They know its inevitable an asteroid will some day crash into earth, they just want to practice landing on the asteroid under the guise of mining to see if they can blow it to pieces or divert its course enough.... shit's straight out of armageddon...

Pipe dreams IMO. You can't mine what we need in the increasing volumes we need it from space. At least not until we live off planet. Bringing resources back is very costly so only rare metals even remotely qualify.

Cost is relative. Gold is extremely expensive because it is rare. So, if there is a material we need and we need it bad enough we are probably only decades or less away from being able to use robotic ships to mine asteroids. We may need a small crew but it would likely be mostly remote controlled drones.

Neither. There is no measurable warming these last 15 years, with the good data sets. It is looking like it is all a hoax based on bad data.

And there are clear indications now that we will max the Earth's population at about 10 Bigs.

Unfortunately this mean we can see two stupendous, drop offs at the same time.

According to me, and I look deeply at this stuff, we should already be in the first part of the cooling to the Ice Age. But somehow, since Man has attained civilization and the burning of fuel became wide spread, we have been been in a narrow range for the last 10K years.

And what is really weird, is that when we drop off the high, it is very steep and quick, but, we are adding just enough heat now to keep it steady. I always hope the urban heat bubbles can save us from the coming Ice Age.

But, of course, we can fuck everything up and claim we are warming the Earth for $$ to SAVE IT.

The same is true for population. The decline can be quite swift after the lack of births, in the 1st world, impacts as a reduction of Aid to the 3rd world. That reduction will chop the populations and a doom decline can begin down to about the 4 billion range, and smoke on the waters before that.

And only if we don't start popping nukes can we survive the burst population bubble. But, everyone will be cold and hungry since there is no manpower in the industrialized countries to continue the mad pace of feeding the world.

The Urban Heat bubbles are gone thanks to Al Gore, just when we need them, and the global system will fail, because of Lack, lack, lack, everywhere. Then we get to about 1 billion people and 1/2 the world nuked, in the process, which just makes it colder and more dismal.

We could end up with that global ice sheet again and the only warm is in the wide glassed over areas, that cannot sustain life.

Then we start again to build the populations having not learned a single thing.

Man made global warming has already been proven a political hoax created by the left.
In 2008, Al gore and scientists from the US predicted the Arctic ice cap would disappear by the summer of 2013.
Major scientific and political FAIL, the Arctic ice cap grew 30% last year.

So this only leaves over population, which I don't see as a major problem because I just took a trip to Wyoming.
