Taxes-An Unconstitutional Form of THEFT!!!

Guys, fire, police, education, roads and much much more are areas where the states, not the federal govt, has traditionally funded and regulated.

Here is the rub. The federal government liked to hold a carat and a stick. Example.

The legal drinking age used to be 18 or 19 in most states, not too long ago.

Eisenhower built the interstate.

So then the federal government was in the road business. They dabbled a little before, but the vast majority of influence came from local and state.

The federal government relied on the states to maintain the interstates. They gave them money.

Once the states got dependent on this money, the fed said that if you want to keep getting it, you states have to make yur drinking age 21.

Police, fire, education and roads all get federal funding and control to some extent, and some more than others.

education probably has the most government funding and control, it has been growing.

But, for a long time, states and localities provided and regulated the schools, police, roads, and fire departments.

But when the fed gives money, it comes with strings.
And you can thank Ronald Fucking Reagan for that bit of blackmail

This is old and has been refuted time and time again.
Only an uneducated idiot would think fire departments and schools were funded or need to be funded by federal income taxes.
What you are pointing out is a fire truck for service in a federal domain (nat'l park I guess?) you think the states ought to service that, or should the federals take care of their own land?

This is your typical argument, buck. Technically correct, but completely ridiculous and dishonest with respect to the debate at hand.
I don't even think he is technically correct, even though the federal government has fire fighting equipment and manpower, doesn't mean that federal taxes are needed to fund fighting fires.

In fact, if the federal government wouldn't have confiscated land from states, there would be absolutely no use for them.

I don't think Ronald reagan, or the republicans have the market cornered on forcing the states to do something.

Besides, 18 and 19 year olds shouldn't be drinking. I know the argument against it too, and they shouldn't be front line troops at that age either.
