Funny ennough I actually got my buddy who does dirt track racing (semi-late model if you were curious about which class) I gave him 100 gallons of racing fuel because my brother in law quit racing and gave it to me. Figured he could use it more than I.

Sadly though I've only really been using it to plow my driveway. Which is larger than it sounds.
Thinking though that since I'm on "vacation" I'll take the plow off and go for a nice snowy mountain ride.

what kinda quad you runnin.. high octane wont do anything for it most likely. especially a 4 stroke, i ran it a couple times when i had quads. the banshee i seen a little difference, the 400ex i seen none.. although every once in a great while.. run some 3-1 with regular fuel.. the regular being 3.. the racing being one. itll clean your valve seats. also if you got an older quad dont do it. it can eat out your fuel line and cause way to much heat in that engine. also if you got plastic jets.. dont do it

Just because a motor can't take advantage of the higher octane doesn't mean it won't benefit from race gas. One big benefit from most kinds of race gas is that is E0% instead of anything that you get at the pump which is E15%. Another possible benefit is that some race gas blends are oxygenated, meaning the fuel actually carries its own O2 which can produce more power.
With that said, potential gains are minimal...

It's a yamaha big bear, I'm not using the fuel for an added benefit other than free fuel.

shiiiiiiiiiiii it definitely makes a difference in my 325 polaris trail boss. it didnt make it a whole lot faster but it definitely made it run a hell of a lot better.

I've got a 1 ton Superduty & I only shut mine off when I want to use engine braking going down hill.
My boat isn't heavy enough to have any effect on the 6L diesel or the Allison transmission.
Rule of thumb for me is if it's shifting up and down a lot (hills/stop & go) then I might be inclined to shut OD off more often.

I concur with GWN ... if it's not "hunting" between 3rd and OD you're good.
