Hey RIU, I have a 3 females and counting here. I wanted to get started on a perpetual grow since all the plants are starting flower today. I'd like to get between 8 and 14 clones into the veg room in the next 24 hours or so. I am limited with what I can use. I have FFOF, HF, MGPerlite, Sphagnum peat moss and worm castings. I'm thinking of mixing perlite, peat moss and castings has anyone had experience with this and do they know what parts/parts I should use? Thanks in advance. :peace:

I went out and purchased clear solo cups and used one as the bottom planter and one as a humidity dome. It really works great and it's real easy to tell when to transplant cuz u see the roots. As stated above I would also just use the soil out the bag with no additives. Good luck bro and happy growing. I can post pics as well if I'd like I have to clones in the clear Dixie as we speak

easiest and cheapest thing and i personally used to use this combo with 90% success. Jiffy peat pellets for 2-3 bucks and some root it powdered rooting hormone or other cheap ass brand i got from walmart.
then take your cut dip and plug.
these days i use roo riot or some other type rooting plug but i still alternate between my cheap rooting powder and my cloning gel, can't tell a difference.

I do this as well with near 100% success. Ran out of peat pucks tho and deco loped the said method above. I couldn't agree with you more on this being the simplest most costs effective method.

Every think about doing a bubble cloner? You can make one yourself for pretty cheap with thins found at home depot and local pet store. I Use a 2 gallon paint buck that I got at home depot. Painted the bucket and the lid to keep light out of the bucket. I like 2 airstones, so I drill 2 holes in the side of the bucket (Just below the level of the lid when fully sealed). I like the holes to be a little snug (Not closing off passsage, but enough to grip the plastic a little). For the lid, I drilled 3/4 inch holes. I bought fish filter foam in sheet at the pet store. Cut them into strips 3/4" x 3/4" x 2". Now take your cutting how you normally would, and use the filter you cut to wrap the stem. There should be enough filter material to hold the stem in place in the lid, but again, not too tight. Now your cutting tips can be just above the water to a little in the water. I keep it bubbling 24/7, and change with fresh water every 3-4 days. Also, for a humidity dome, get a cake at the supermarket...the ones that come with a clear tall lid...Eat the cake, poke a couple holes in the lid, boom humidity Dome!

Nice. So, the guano and what not in the HF wouldn't be too hot for a clone? I only have whats on hand until tax time. If I pressed it into little cups, would using just peat moss be too acidic? Thanks :peace:

AH,
Peat pucks (Jiffy 7) are obviously made of peat. So peat would be fine. I've cloned dozens of clones in peat...works fine.

then do your perlite, peat, and soil combo. No nutes. And the solo cup idea blitzed was talking about should work. Try not to have too much leaf touching the cups though.

You can use shredded paper towels and a dixie cup. Just shred up a few and fill up an entire dixie cup and add water. You want about half the cup filled with wet shreds (mushy, but not solid). Place clone in and keep it somewhat moist till you get roots. Even cotton balls will work.

Agreed, no hot mixes for clones, you'll burn them, I usually go with peat/perlite in cups until they root well before transplanting into any sort of hot soil mix...
its the bacteria that's the problem. used to use soil mixes but i had too many rot probs so i 86'd that method. now i only use an aero cloner. guys use other methods with sucess. i can only attest to what i like using:)

Use the sphagnum. it's basically rock wool and is perfect for holding moisture but not rotting the stem from no oxygen like soggy peatmoss. The soil will work too. The #1 thing is keeping the humidity high (75-99%). If you mist them once a day it will help. Keep them on 24hr florescent light. Blue spectrum works best. If temps are above 78f it will make things harder.

The castings are great to feed clones but not until the cut has healed and root nubs have started growing (wait 4-5 days) It is not necessary to feed clones but it can speed things up especially in rockwool.
